For some reason assumed it would be higher. That's not bad.

Again, and this isn’t Ozzie who is GM who’ll sign any damn receiver to more than 11M/yr (except Boldin)… who would we bring in that not only has as much potential as Hollywood, but also already has production/QB WR chemistry?

That's your opinion, but I feel there is a 150% chance we pick up Hollywoods 5th year option. You don't let someone go who has scored 15 TDs and come out big time in the playoffs in his first two years, while also playing on one foot in year one. I also think he will have between 1000 and 1200 yards this season.

I think Bateman and Lamar will have an instant connection. Combine that with his already strong connection with Andrews and there are few balls to go around in a run heavy offense. Weve already seen Hollywood get emotional when he isn't being used to his liking.

Could be completely off as well [emoji2371]

Eh you may be right. We will see how the whole Brown relation connection goes. Hollywood’s cousin is a head case who needs to be babysat by the GOAT. Hollywood may turn out the same way. No one knows. But no one also knew AB was a head case until later in his career either.

Also I damn well hope Lamar has enough of a backbone to tell Hollywood to STFU if he’s not getting the targets while Bateman is. Otherwise Hollywood is then a detriment to the team by controlling the offense like he would be. I’m hoping Hollywood isn’t bamboozling Lamar by trying to be his best friend right now and also having his head case of a cousin working out with them too who I know was imparting “words of wisdom”

This is OF COURSE CONJECTURE. No one knows… no one knows if Bateman is for sure the real deal in NFL terms or not. This is completely the worst of the worst case scenarios here

well, imo the only reason he doesn't get the 5th year option, which would be this offseason, is if he is extended.

I don't follow this logic - Lamar already has a connection with Andrews and a first round receiver in Hollywood himself, and we're still spending first round picks and money in FA to add to the position. Wouldn't make sense to let one guy go as soon as you finally find a second.

If Hollywood really does start kicking up a stink it could happen but I don't think it will in this next year, when his option is due.

I honestly don't think Hollywood cares about targets. In 2019 he was just fine when the team was winning. I think his complaints came more from a place of the passing games production than some selfish stat perspective.

Forget picking up his option, what if he dnt wanna play here. Dude is easily a 1k type of guy in more passing friendly offense.

Yet again I think folks have their minds stuck on a tweet from months ago and are forgetting the overall performance.

Hollywood already looks like the best wr the ravens have ever drafted. He has an excellent connection with Lamar, he abuses many types of coverage, and aside from a month long stretch he has been incredibly sure handed for routine and difficult catches alike. He is a key part of the offense and without his speed and separation ability the entire complexity of the team changes.

he was upset after the offense looked bad multiple weeks in a row, he publicly implied that he wants a bigger share, that’s not being a diva, that’s being a leader, you want the ball in crunch time because you believe in yourself. Sure it didn’t work out at first and he got humbled, but nothing that he has done or said has indicated any kind of diva mentality, and nothing he has done has suggested he’s not worthy of the option/extension.

the only way Hollywood isn’t here in the mid 2020s is if he decides he doesn’t wanna play with Lamar, because he will get an offer that he’s happy with, and I highly doubt he’s gonna tell Lamar that he doesn’t pass well enough for him to stay.

he and Lamar are best friends. I don't think he'd have any issue with us giving him the 5th year option to stay here. I believe he has a very good chance to increase his production this year to possibly 1,000 yards, even with Bateman and Watkins and with JK Dobbins getting more shots.

Lets remember this is actually the first offseason he can actually practice and he has good WR coaches or so it seems.

The last part of your post is what is somewhat amazing. His first offseason was jacked up because of the screw in his foot deal. The second offseason was obviously Corona-died. And he still was successful in his rehab and with developing into a very viable talent. Speaks to the dedication to his craft on his own part.

I think you're probably right, but I can see a scenario where Hollywood decides he wants to try his hand on a pass-heavy team to see if he can get some big numbers. He might want to a) get himself talked about as one of the best in the league and b) get paid like it. I think his relationship with Lamar will go a long way towards avoiding that though.

and hollywood's also basically the only offensive player the last 2 years who can honestly say he showed up in every single post-season game since he's been here

i think that last part's important - as long as we're compensating him for his services at the same level - how many people fantasise at a young age about conquering the world with their best friend

and how many people actually get that opportunity

if we offer hollywood a similar deal to what the rest of the NFL might give him (or offer him money before he hits the market) - i find it unlikely that he'd worry about the alternative

Before coaches he was working. Guy has an amazing work ethic like his cuz. They maybe best friends but when those dollar amounts start showing, he gonna have to do whats best for him. 10 mil difference in guaranteed money will do the trick

So, the reason I think they pick up the option is because it's cheaper than an extension, most likely. But I also think they would be foolish to let him go. When you get down to it, their 3 best options for long term WR's are Bateman, Wallace, and Hollywood. I would argue Boykin, Proche, or Duvernay- would be harder to cut than Watkins if they all make it thru this year simply because of age. And I would tend to err on keeping younger guys altho Watkins' contract is pretty friendly.

I could also see a situation where we pick up the option and trade him depending on the performance of Bateman and Wallace. I think we see more of those kinds of scenarios after Orlando Brown Jr. The years of us allowing 1st rounders or other successful picks to walk are thru, I think. Plus it's not going to be a situation with Hollywood like it was with Perriman or others where they just flat out sucked, so getting something for them going out the door was unlikely.

I know I was critical of some things early last year with all of the WR's, but cutting youth in a position that is so costly in the NFL for teams after the rookie deals end is simply foolish to me. You use that money that you aren't paying there for other needs. Like right now, I still am shocked that a vet edge guy or CB depth, hasn't been signed yet. We're going to have to make hard decisions at the WR position if Bateman, Wallace, and Hollywood all do well - and I think they will - and that's a good situation to be in. I would say that at the very least, Hollywood would balance out to a good FA signing if they sign him to an extension in or after that 5th year.

We absolutely would have to pay the money to keep him. I'm not saying to pay him less money and he'd stick around because Lamar.

Apparently the Ravens tried out TE Charles Clay. He played with Roman in Buffalo or a season or two. Had a couple good years in there. Don't know if he's worth signing, but I do think it's interesting they are still pursuing another TE. No way all of the guys they have on the roster now stick.
https://www.profootballrumors.com/2021/06/ravens-work-out-charles-clay

Zrebiec says that Oliver has done well so far and could stick - but it's gonna be interesting to see what happens with Ben Mason and whether we end up keeping eric tomlinson as a pure in-line blocker
