The Defence, The Bad, The Ugly - Chargers Edition

  • Great team win today. The defense played its best game of the season and we got back to running the football on offense. Just a solid all-around performance.
  • Bateman had a good debut despite the bad drop near the end of the game. Can't wait to see this offense with a full, healthy WR group.
  • Tackling was MUCH better today. Guys were wrapping up and swarming to the ball which was nice to see.
  • Joker was all over the field making plays. I know some people question our safety play *cough*Deebo*cough*, but Joker and Clark were making plays all afternoon.
  • As Rossi already said, we actually left a fair amount of points off the board today despite dominating. This team is really starting to build something special this season and I don't think we've seen our best yet.
Lol elliot balled today.. still dnt like them mfs though

Nothing too much to add here. No one was a complete letdown today on offense today, while the defense dominated. Glad the running game got going. I know LAC isn't strong against the run but this was a big need as a team to be more balanced. Lamar wasn't at his strongest today but was still plenty good enough and we were able to walk away with an easy W which we don't get too often around here.

And shout out to Bynes. He played his ass off today and I think he's a big reason why we were so calm, cool, and collected on D. Elliott's return really helped but it was so great to have some semblance of solid play at ILB for once.

He was super humble in the post game presser too. Glad to have him back out there.

That was my first time watching Herbert in a full game and not just recaps. There was not a lot to be excited about there. Wonder if it was juwt truly a weird off day for him and their whole team.

He's good. Defense showed out today

Nice game! Haven’t been around much to post but have lurked but what a statement win today. I think the team looks great and honestly feel good about the defense today after going against what was considered a top offense and top young QB. I think the tough and close wins have helped this team gain some grit they will need to have later in the year when it comes to playoff time.

Oh yeah! That no call on the late hit on Lamar when out of bounds was BS!
always nice to see you on the boards.

you have to give Wink and the defense credit.

The only blemish on the game is Lamar's pass to the Charger's LB midway thru the 2nd quarter... and that is forgiven with the way the OFF played all day. Great game in every phase. Let's hope for more of these where it looks like we know what we're doing rather than sort of backing in to victories. ;)

Top of the AFC!!

I'm being completely unbiased here. I think we are clearly the class of the AFC. People can talk about the Bills all they want, but they've only played 1 team this year that has a functioning defense... and they lost that game. I'm not saying they can't he the best team in the AFC, but there schedule has been very easy whereas ours has been very hard. Then throw in we're still going to get guys back from injuries and our running back room is still getting up to speed and I think we're obviously the class of the AFC. I do believe the bills are second and then there seems to be a big drop off after that for me.

They have a cake schedule minus the Bucs rest of the way. Allen is good, but if a game is close listen and listen good. He will fold. I do not trust him in pressure moments and the way their schedule lines up will not prepare them for a tough game in the playoffs.

Haha you're preaching to the choir. I'm an outspoken anti Josh Allen person. I just don't think he's that good. Thing is, that team has a really good defense and he's better than a game manager. So while you can win a Superbowl with that, but they got no running game and I agree with you he doesn't have that killer instinct. The AFC seems extremely weak to me. The NFC has the Cowboys, Rams, Packers, Cardinals, and Bucs

Absolute agree, I don’t trust Allen in the clutch either, he’s still a loose cannon with his arm, in the clutch moments he’s gonna rifle one that he needs to put air under and it’s gonna have bad results, he has always looked like a panicked player and honestly I’ve seen nothing new in that regard this year.

You make a good argument. I'm still feeling cynical because of how Baltimore played against Buffalo this very calendar year.
But this game and others strongly suggest a sharp distinction between the contenders and pretenders.

Brandon Stephens playing 100% of the snaps. He’s a pleasant surprise

Did this person not realize that Queen got injured early, missed some snaps, and then they kept him out after the game was decided (for obvious reasons)? Whether or not we agree, Queen is still the starter.

You sure? I thought I saw Queen back in the second half. I’m pretty sure he was there
