So how do you guys think Bateman fared? I think outside of his garbage time drop, he did a great job. Very clutch with first downs, and that one play where he fought for the first down was great YAC ability

He converted several 3rd downs. I thought he looked great besides taking his eye off the ball in that one drop. I'm excited.

Do you think he was trying too hard with that one to get upfield and maybe score a TD? I know he was probably thinking about getting a TD in his debut and that was his last or close to real last chance at it. Would’ve been a huge play too

I'd have to watch the play again but I just remember thinking if had just looked it into his hands for an extra half second he had a chance for a big play.

Totally was trying to take it to the house. It's actually really great that it happened. It was in garbage time where it didn't matter. It came after he was clutch all day. This will focus him and live in his head all week. Watch out, this kid is gonna cook

He looks good out there, that drop spoiled what would have been a very good debut. Didn’t hurt us in the end and it gives him something to work on.

All of his receptions were for first downs and he was running good routes. The last drop he just took his eyes off the ball and let it get into his body, which he does do occasionally.

Do you think his hands are gonna be a problem? Or is it more just concentration that can be fixed?

He looked okay. Even aside from the drop there was nothing that particularly stood out but in that game there was nothing that needed to.

Realistically though that is all he needs to be as he, barring injury, will be the teams 4th priority weapon (Hollywood, Andrews, and Watkins all higher) for this season and possibly next when Dobbins is back and Watkins is not. He does not need to set the world on fire, but just be okay which he was.

I don't know. Coming through on the clutch on 3rd down passes was something, especially for a guy in his debut in a biggish game. The catch he made where he had that nice YAC was good too.

Liked the fact he was moving the chains. Also liked the fight he showed on one of his catches. If I am not mistaken he made a guy miss to pick up the first.


I am really excited to see him next week

He made one guy miss and then dragged another for yards after contact to get past the chains.
