well here's a missed opportunity and nothing Roman can do about this for multiple reasons
lamar checks into it (although we dont know what the initial call was - probably some sort of run anyway) - but it's a good check because...
ravens have numbers advantage on the direction of the run and we can see the LB drops at the snap - big chance to get a ton of yardage back after the negative play on 1st down - ravens should have a convoy of blockers - bell should be getting into L2 here untouched

but Zeitler clearly gets the play wrong and pulls left rather than blocking down and the play's broken

the playcall is fine
the check is a good one
even the execution is pretty good except for the miscommunication...

Jesus Christ yea someone totally whiffed on 70. Make that block and Bell has some room

yeah zeitler thought he was pulling left rather than downblocking on 70 with the pullers coming behind him
It’s pretty comical and almost beautifully fitting for how this season’s run game is going

and why do you think he's mentally not there? because everything ive seen from lamar suggests that he's elite reading the field - his command of the offence is amazing

And yet they could not figure out the lowly ranked dolphins defense. It’s ok to admit he played a poor game and couldn’t figure out how to beat the looks they showed. The national media has criticized Lamar unfairly , causing some of you to become overly sensitive to a critiques. I expect Lamar to play at the level of the greats , physically and mentally, because he has the ability to do so but clearly needs to improve on some mental aspect of the game.

but no one's here not saying he's played poorly
even the greats have poor games

you're the one who's suggesting that based on one game where strategically and execution-wise we could not overcome one specific flaw on a short-week against an unprecedented level of cover-0/cover-1 that somehow means lamar's mentally deficient and behind the 8-ball

you literally said he's not mentally where a 4th year QB should be despite clear evidence to the contrary - show me a 4th year or younger QB who's doing better 'mentally' or succeeding in tougher circumstances?

what are these mental aspects he needs to get better at? - my only mental critique of lamar is sometimes he's hesitant to get the ball out quickly and doesnt let the ball fly when he should all the time on some of those quick-hitters - partly though i think that's somewhat to do with the play-designs though albeit it's still also about lamar... you never see us with those quick drops - it's always a minimum 3-step drop

This game was building for a while. As disappointing as it was, it was bound to happen.

This is a Ravens team that was incredibly close to losing to the Lions. It took a 4th and 19 conversion, missed delay of game and a record-setting field goal just to defeat Detroit.

This is still a playoff team, but they can't be having many more efforts like this down the stretch

Even if your OC was a moron , you could still see that quick slants over the middle , with the speed of Hollywood and Bateman ,
could have destroyed the massive blitzing the Dolphins were doing .

We failed to really to take advantage of this which was really beyond belief .

i just dont think mack makes a big difference to this team and moses was never getting traded by the jets...

we saw that EDC was willing to spend major draft capital - i just think that the guys who could/would make a difference werent available to us

They wouldn't have been the only players we looked at, so for better or worse what it comes down to is EDC not pulling the trigger. You can't tell me no GM was willing to trade to us.

That’s the thing, it’s like how does any NFL OC not implement this…. I can’t wrap my fucking brain around it because it doesn’t make sense.

He tried to trade a first for Xavien Howard dude, we couldn’t fit him under the cap and the entire reason we didn’t finalize the trade was because Miami wouldn’t eat a chunk of his salary. What more do you want lol

Unless your name is a certain Greg Roman.... then it's Roman to him

I'm honestly glad that fell through. Promising talent is not the issue with our secondary, simply adding more to it does not seem like the answer. Spending a 1st to get a player that will not be enough to get us over the hump this year and then require us to make a decision between him, Averett and Peters in the offseason seems like an overly aggressive move.

I'm much happier building on what we have, trying to keep Averett and working out the few big plays they seem to let go every game, then spending the 1st on a OT, OLB, DL.

Not to mention Howard is scoring a 62 on PFF this year, for whatever it's worth

I’m appalled we didn’t go after Mack

I think The Ravens did try to trade for him but If the Colts feel like they have a shot to make the playoffs then why would they want to trade Mack to another AFC team that's may make it to the playoffs especially if the asking price isn't high? I don't think The Ravens would have wanted to trade a third round pick or even higher for Mack.
