2022 DL Thread

Another position where the ravens need some talent and some youth. 2/3 of the self-proclaimed MONSTARS have been injured or ineffective this year and Campbell is 35 years old.

Madubuike, Washington and Ellis are all likely to figure into the 2022 plans but that's a unit that could do with the injection of a starting calibre player and preferably a young one.

Some eye-catching names at the position... none moreso than Jordan Davis out of Georgia who makes other DL look small and makes normal sized humans look tiny.

Also like the look of what I've seen from John Ridgeway so far from Arkansas

Where do you see Jordan Davis going in the draft?

idk tbh - not done any study - if im honest ive not actually been that impressed with the little bits of him that ive seen live

but he's a freak and my watching of him is nowhere near comprehensive

if a team is convinced he's a freak and they think he's got an ability to pass rush then he's going top 20

but im not sure from what ive seen so far that im sold that way yet

I'm not so sure he has pass rush ability and tends to only play limited snaps a game. No way I'm taking him in the first round, but I have a feeling that is where he is going to go.

There seem to be a decent number of blue chip sub 300lb lengthy DL pass rushers, but he's the only blue chip big guy for the DL. I'm working on the assumption that Campbell and Williams are gone after this season and he'd be the perfect guy to come in and be the long term anchor to our line.

That and he's been my draft crush for a while now, it's not entirely logical but the heart wants what the heart wants.

Jordan Davis is an absolute unit, no doubt about it, he will step in the nfl and physically dominate competition on a number of snaps.

his conditioning though, oof, he is dead in the water on a lot of snaps.

What are your guys’ thoughts on Leal From Texas A&M?
there always slam dunk top ten type prospects that fall to the mid teens, and I’m desperately hoping he’s the one that falls this year.

he’s an elite athlete, great twitch and lateral movement, good length, good power, consistent with disengaging, plays all along the front, great speed to power from the outside, great with penetrating from the 1/3 with quicks, straight arms, etc. and holds up well in 2 gap scenarios.

I don’t see any downsides with the guy honestly. He’s a great fit here as well being a natural multiple kinda player.

I appreciate the response. You think he’s a slam dunk top ten prospect? Interesting. Any weaknesses in his game?
Did he play next to Madubuike?

What about George Karlaftis? I’m trying to see which top prospects I can let break my heart most when they get selected just before us lol
He’s an edge, and I like him, he’s physically dominant, excellent disengage, excellent pursuit, nose for the ball carrier, I hate to pin a white edge rusher on another white edge rusher but he’s a bit like Joey bosa, absolute monster mitts and he ragdolls blockers and finds the qb extremely well.

Okay I need someone to tell me, who’s a superior prospect on film, travon walker or demarvin leal? I am so torn between these guys because early on I pegged leal as an unreachable prospect for us that I wanted very bad, and now he very well could fall to us, then I discovered walker recently and have been enamored with him and I fully expect him to be available and I feel like he is just more, idk, flashy? He’s definitely more flashy but is he a “better prospect”? I’m torn on these guys and I felt one was out of reach and the other isn’t so the “perceived value” is fucking me up on these 2, what’s y’all’s thoughts?

not watched a ton of Leal yet but what i'll say is that the traits are great and the flashes are awesome but idk that he survives inside the way i'd want him to in order to play on the interior - this is all with the massive proviso that ive watched less than a game's worth of snaps on Leal and he still looks freaky

but without knowing anything else, if you'd told me one of them was 275 and one of them was 290 - just looking at the power i'd definitely get the answer wrong

from what ive seen so far though... if im honest i think there's not a wrong answer here - both are freaks - and my guess is that they're both top 15 type talents

Really impressed with Devonte Wyatt and Phidarian Mathis - both are exciting pass rushers as potential 3techs - both surprisingly bendy for guys their size which is always nice to see

think wyatt's probably flashier and has some crazy lateral agility at his size
but Mathis probably the more likely to hold up vs double-teams (at least his technique vs doubles is better right now)

both of them look like really good prospects - will need to test well to prove it and both will get a chance to prove their supremacy in the senior bowl but 2 pretty good preliminary grades from me so far
