The Bengals, The 3rd Team and The When Will The Injuries End?

i mean he's inconsistent in the sense that he's not going to break tackles...
but he consistently gets open at all 3 levels - it's almost like our inability to schematically beat cover-0 and lamar's slump have impacted our downfield passing game...

hard to make plays downfield when the ball's not catchable

he's consistently rinsing DBs downfield and either been missed (by the read) or missed (by the throw)

He had 2 hit him right in the hands today and couldn’t bring them in, one for a TD and another on the sideline for a good gain. Not easy catches, but your WR1 has to be able to make those plays consistently.

Said this before. I don't think people realize how open Hollywood actually gets. Not bringing him back would be stupid to me.

And I come from the school of don't like it then stop it. Wink shouldn't have popped off knowing who he had in the secondary. Really dumb when you realized what they did to one of our "healthier" rosters too.

especially when talking about chase who went off for 200 yards lol

and yeah hollywood is one of the most "open" receivers in the league - i imagine he's dropped slightly in recent weeks as the offence has shrunk with the backups

but in 2020 he was one of the top 3 receivers in terms of how open he got per route
and in 2021 he was again similarly creating massive separation until the offence closed up (and even then he's killing guys downfield when he gets those opportunities)

Hollywood was disappointing again. Johnson hit him right in the hands a couple of times and it just bounced off. And the lack of YAC continues to be an issue.

As it stands now I wouldn’t be upset to see next year as his last in Baltimore. I know he’s fast and all, but he’s very inconsistent and IMO not worth a big vet contract. Seems he’s a #2 at best.
I’ll take him as a #2 to Bateman’s #1. Extremely good duo, plus Hollywood and Lamar have too much of a good rapport on the field and they’re best friends off of it. I wouldn’t break the bank obviously but I’d be mad if they didn’t extend him

+ Bateman, Proche, Mack and Washington.
- RBs. Please sign a couple of young Rbs who will actually run for a 1st.

We have them. Both of them are out

its tough we have to make that judgement on the extension before watching bateman more tbh. i hate all his complaining and soldjas bs when he is only a deep threat to me.

Right. But if he’s after #1money I say let him walk.

the TD one im 100% not putting on him - the ball got tipped literally right as he went up for the catch - the defender made a good PD...
i dont remember the other one

i mean hollywood was on track to be a top 10 WR in terms of production before lamar fell off
this feels like pure reactionary recency bias because he doesnt break tackles...

He’s had some nice games here and there, but nothing consistent.

Yeah it’s a shame. The drops are annoying and he clearly avoids contact. He falls down 2-3 yards before the defender touches him. His YAC ovule be much better if he would just run to the whistle. He’s over 900 yards receiving so he’s been productive but it could be so much better.

Marquise is a figure because she is lucky that Lamar throws her most of the time.
proche, wallace, duvernay can do the same as him.
Bateman is clearly superior.
I do not consider it essential with our current body of faith receivers.

And I think he’s soft, just don’t see the fight in him.

He fights in playoff games. With his frame I'm not mad at him for avoiding some contact. And we've seen he'll risk it in end-of-game situations.

I'm telling you all right now. If Brown leaves for a competent passing offense he'll do numbers and you all will see the mistake it was letting him go.

yeah looked like wallace got the majority of the snaps in the 3 WR sets ahead of proche but they both played lots of snaps

boykin played a bit but notably got chewed out by harbs after no attacking the ball on the free play

but i think we got a really good look at what our receiving group is going to look like for the next couple of years - can add duvernay in too but i dont foresee any significant additions to that group especially if the coaching staff start to like tylan wallace

hollywood
bateman
duvernay
proche
wallace

is a pretty nice young group

Agreed. Roll with them and see what you got. Supplement with a vet on the minimum/PS each year and I'm comfortable with that unit for the foreseeable future.

what would count as consistent to you?
because while not always spectacular he's had 4/40 in 12/14 games he's played this year

and until the recent offensive slump he was one of the most prolific TD receivers in the NFL dating back to mid 2020

he's only had 5 drops this entire season

Johnson was scout team QB so that's why he trusted Proche.
Idk if we re-sign Hollywood but thats something EDC has to decide in early 2023. All i know is Hollywood's the best WR we've drafted. Bateman played a couple of games and you already think he is clearly superior? Duvernay is not even close when it comes to route running.
Yes hollywoods not the biggest WR and may not always fight for every yard. But other than that he's really good and i second redrum52.

He plays gow he suppose to play imo.. when contact isnt necessary, fall to ground or go outta bounds.. gotta remember he is small as shit with what it look to be no muscle mass lol
