I don't know why I subject myself to PFT.com and their comment section. Check this out from a "die hard Ravens fan". I mean, what a fucking idiot, no matter what team he roots for:

Die hard Ravens fan here. Greg Roman’s offense is way too predictable, they need some imagination and firepower. The passing game is weak, much of that is Lamar Jackson’s fault because he is inaccurate with his passes far to often. Jackson should be a wide receiver or a running back, as he is very gifted running the ball, but is pedestrian at best as a QB.Look at the current teams that are favorites going into the playoffs, what is the one thing they all have in common? Great QB play! Take Rodgers out of Green Bay and the Vikings could have won the division."

I really don’t understand all of the scrutiny and criticism of Huntley. Outside of this place it’s pretty much the consensus he performed admirably in what was the toughest of situations for an inexperienced QB to be placed. Not sure why we can’t just be happy for him rather than pointing to every little flaw in what seems to be an attempt to defend Lamar. It’s my hope he remains the backup as he at the least can keep us competitive in relief.

Well, PF.com is a mere microcosm of the Baltimore Ravens fanbase and not the entirety of it.

I agree that Huntley played fairly well but he also showed me why he is a "backup" (for the time being) in comparison to Lamar (who also has his issues and struggles).

Well when a huge portion of the fanbase thinks he’s running the offense better than Lamar, it’s kinda like “you’re really gonna make me explain this to you?” From those of us who actually have a clue.

like, sorry that my explanation of how Huntley is clearly not fit to be our starter over Lamar seems to be an insult to Huntley, it’s not, it’s just reality.

And reality is that Huntley is a fine backup. Is he Tyrod? No, but you're damn lucky if you have a Tyrod in the first place as backup unless you give up a good chunk of change/draft capital for him

Oh it's been construed that way by some posters, don't worry.
Sounds like you’re the one doing the construing. Too much of the fanbase claimed he was a better qb than Lamar and that there was a qb controversy in Baltimore, some posters saying otherwise is not the same as us saying he’s not a solid backup. Matter of fact, it’s been said by legit everyone here that he’s a good fit to be our backup.

tbf ive said that over the last couple of weeks of the season ive seen enough flaws that i have questions about huntley - that he's done ok but not well enough that im not interested in finding someone better

Lol I have also said similar things. But I think we've all nicely settled on the issue. He was put in a really really tough situation. He didn't win very many games, but we were at least competitive. As we've said hopefully if the rest of the team like the OL, running backs, and entire defense were healthy, a Huntley led team could win more games which is the most important thing your backup QB can do for you if your franchise QB is out. He'll also get better because he's still an incredibly young player.

yeah, no it went way beyond that. Huntley was being blamed for everything short of maybe rising inflation. And I guess me really not connecting to other social media outlets has shielded me from the talk of replacing Lamar with Huntley. Have to say though I wonder why anyone would actually take that seriously at this point and why they would feel a need to criticize Tyler to defend Lamar.

The over arching point here is that we were damn lucky to have had Ty as our back up as he stepped in and performed much better than would be expected from a green UDFA. We should be praising him rather than scrutinizing his every flaw and mistake. The kid is 23 and had never started an NFL game for shit's sake. What are people expecting?

Maybe things swung slightly too far in that direction yeah, but I think you're still missing the broad strokes of what Joey was saying. There was such an extreme on the Ty is amazing side that naturally the correcting counter comes off as harsh. This is just what happens when there are vocal groups making comments on either extreme end of a spectrum.

Well again it’s not people bashing Huntley, it’s just explaining why he’s not starting material. They’re nfl players, people are gonna be critical.

that said, Huntley or Lamar, the biggest issue on the team was the OL and they both suffered behind it. If the OL was up to snuff, Huntley would have fared better, Lamar would have fared exponentially better.

Who's to blame for rising inflation?
