yeah, no it went way beyond that. Huntley was being blamed for everything short of maybe rising inflation. And I guess me really not connecting to other social media outlets has shielded me from the talk of replacing Lamar with Huntley. Have to say though I wonder why anyone would actually take that seriously at this point and why they would feel a need to criticize Tyler to defend Lamar.

The over arching point here is that we were damn lucky to have had Ty as our back up as he stepped in and performed much better than would be expected from a green UDFA. We should be praising him rather than scrutinizing his every flaw and mistake. The kid is 23 and had never started an NFL game for shit's sake. What are people expecting?
I blame Huntley for rising inflation. I said what I said.

And reality is that Huntley is a fine backup. Is he Tyrod? No, but you're damn lucky if you have a Tyrod in the first place as backup unless you give up a good chunk of change/draft capital for him
TBF Tyrod was not good early in his career either. I remember him not looking good when he came into the league. He improved a lot. Huntlley is only in his second year, so maybe he improves some...we will see.

tbf ive said that over the last couple of weeks of the season ive seen enough flaws that i have questions about huntley - that he's done ok but not well enough that im not interested in finding someone better
I think Huntley is OK. He did not play well enough where I feel we can leave the position unaddressed but played well enough where I would be fine with having him next year as the backup. He's in that "won't lose you games but probably won't win them either" category for me this year. That doesn't mean he can't improve next year.

I remember Tyrod coming in when the Pats were blowing us out at home and immediately throwing a pick 6

Well again it’s not people bashing Huntley, it’s just explaining why he’s not starting material. They’re nfl players, people are gonna be critical.
This sums it up perfectly.

We had people saying he was more decisive, better decision maker, better accuracy, running the offense better, etc.

I think we can all agree that simply wasn't it, as you'd expect it wouldn't be the case with a backup quarterback.

So, naturally, people pushed back against this because, again, we can agree that's not reality and people lost their minds. If you weren't saying Huntley is the greatest thing since sliced bread and going to fetch the entire first round of the draft, you're a hater.

The reality, to me, is Huntley played well... for an undrafted free agent making his first starts. The expectations should have been zero, so for him do anything remotely passable already exceeds expectations.

But being an UDFA doesn't mean that he played well because he exceeded his extremely low bar. He still left a lot to be desired and doesn't have the necessary traits to be a long term answer.

All in all, you're not likely to find a better backup without investing significant money or a significant draft pick into the position and I don't believe the Ravens are in the position to do that. Tyler Huntley will remain a decent enough backup to keep games competitive and keep the Ravens on course. He at least kept games interesting in a good way and not a Nathan Peterman five interception way.

Are there people out there that are questioning whether Lamar should get a mega deal? If true, I have some news for those people. When you hit the big lotto, you don't flush that ticket down the toilet. Cash it.

It's a no-brainer that the Ravens keep him. He's only scratched the surface of what he can do. People come out in say that if you give a QB time and space he will always tear you to shreds but that's not the case. Plenty of the Ravens opposing QBs in the previous seasons and the past have had ATS and have issues. Lamar this season when he had time and space and had confidence in the protection looked to me on a different level.

The FO cannot afford to let him walk, you just can't let a player of this caliber walk. The guy has once-in-a-lifetime talent with what he's capable of and what he's potentially capable of.

I’ve yet to see anyone question this on here. I don’t pay attention to other social media outlets so I can’t speak for them. The argument shifted long ago to when and how much. I’m really curious how negotiations are going for Lamar’s team. It seems beneficial for EDC to sign him now , but I’m curious if Lamar has any thoughts on waiting to sign a deal until next year. Drive the price up

tbh i dont think the price will change much - there's no one obvious who will re-set the market other than lamar who's likely to get paid in that interim year so i dont know that waiting ups his price enough to bother waiting when ultimately all it's doing is making him a year older for that 3rd contract

There were people questioning it previously. I think it was around the Browns/Packers games. But, obviously that talk took a nosedive.

Wasn't Flacco an alternate as well when he made it? I thought Dalton took his place as the other alternate. I'm unsure though.
That’s what happened but look at the stats that year and it’s absurd that Dalton gets the pro bowl accolade. Every year for the first 5 seasons flacco got shafted out of a pro bowl, and definitely in 2014
