Wagner is still a good player and would be a massive upgrade, but he had a noticeable dropoff in play this season.
Haven't watched much Seahawks games this year, can only go off what I heard but the impression I get is he's still a good player. He would definitely be a massive upgrade.

Wonder if we take a look at Jessie Bates in FA, would be a nice upgrade at safety and worst case scenario it pushes up the re-sign price for the Bungals.

Jets have 2
Giants have 2
Lions have 2
Eagles have 3

seahawks, rams, 49ers, bears all dont have a 1st round pick
Pretty crazy year with all the multiple first round picks. Tell me when the Rams actually have a first round pick, now that will be breaking news.

With all these multiple 1st round picks, it could lead to a lot of trades. Also, if Joe Hortiz does in fact become GM of the Giants, I wonder if this will lead to some trading between franchises, kind of like we have done with the Eagles in the past and now the Jets as well, etc...

If there is high FA/draft investment at both C and T, this question becomes moot.

However, if we only address C for some reason, it seems to be a two way race between Mekari and James at RT.

If we only address T, does Mekari offer real C competition? Or does this seem like if they don't add anything to the room it's Colons job with Mekari ready in the wings?

it would be colon's job but it would be unfathomable that we wouldnt have added a cheap vet in free agency or a draft pick (could be day 3) to add some competition to that room

but yes in this hypothetical it would be colon with mekari backing up - but worth pointing out that that also then weakens the tackle depth if mekari's the primary backup at both T and C

I hear you. I'm just unsure about how the Ravens see Mekari. Like do they see him as a starter? It doesn't matter where, he's gonna be in the top 5 guys. Or do they think I really hope I never have to see him play a single snap?

i think you look at the contract they gave him - it suggests to me he's someone they value but not enough to have to play him - i think in their ideal world he's their primary backup

I wouldn't rule out Mekari as the C, depending on what else happens of course. Everyone remembers his one bad playoff game, but it was just that... one game. It wasn't a multi game issue like Skura had. I think they'd very much prefer that he's the 5 position backup but I also think they'd be comfortable starting him at nearly every position on the line if they had to.

This is kinda how I feel. Would prefer he be the backup, but I'm certain for one reason or another he's starting multiple games for us next year

Having a guy that can backup every single position on the line would be such a blessing. Helps keep guys in their normal spots if injuries happen... like Tyre Phillips not bouncing inside and outside constantly.

But again, if he has to start, I can think of much worse scenarios. Mekari is as solid as can be.

I don't. I think he's a great swing tackle, and that's what they're going to pay him for. They already know there's pretty much no chance they can add two strong Tackles this offseason, due to cap restrictions. So they're going to probably have a high draft pick, Mekari, James, and hopefully Stanley.

I don't think Mekari is an option at Guard, and if he wasn't an option at Guard or Center this past year, I don't see what would change this offseason.

If anything, I think its a sign that Tyre Phillips "experiment" as a Tackle is probably over. They'll likely move him to Guard full time this offseason.

They'll add a Tackle via FA or the draft (likely with a high pick). I would be beyond shocked to not see that happen. Might even see both.

The only way they don't add a Center is if they keep Bozeman. If Bozeman walks, they'll be adding both a C and a Tackle. I would say it makes it more likely they add a C via FA, though.

I think there's a zero percent chance they go into June with just Stanley, Mekari, and James at tackle, and I think there's a zero percent they go into June with only TCC and Mekari at Center (I don't even think Mekari is an option at C at this point).

He's played at started at G and C for us in his first 2 years and played solid ball there as well. He was only moved to T out of complete necessity last season, and then he proved that he could handle it. I think they'd like for him to be the swing T and probably the interior backup as well, but I also think they realize that they have a solid option if plan A or B doesn't come to fruition inside. I don't see him as the primary option but the guy you can lean on if you have to.
