When signing up, I believe that including your birth date is optional. Correct me if I am wrong. However, if you visit the Privacy section in your user settings, you can disable others from viewing your age and or birthday.

Update to everyone who was letting me know about not being able to read the purple over the dark background; I made it lighter so it should be easier to read now. I will also be starting work on the light theme now. Once it is done, I will let you all know how to choose between the two themes...
