I mean yes and no. The "new $" is all that really matters, and that was reported accurately. It's $168M in new $. The fact that it was an extension and they can roll it in with the current deal is just good cap management. Been the criticism of EDC for a few years now. Didn't get Lamar done...

That's back end top 5, and that's before others, who don't have deals yet, sign. You will certainly see an extension for Nacua this year, and possibly Pickens as well. Both will come in over those numbers. The floor of the top 5 market can easily go to 35-36 million in next few months. Like...

I think Flowers path is more aligned with Linderbaum's, which is that he's not a blank check guy. I have no doubt we'll be making competitive offers, but if he and his agent are thinking about being in the top 5 of the market, it'll be from somebody else most likely.

So with the last part, I agree. Faalele's bad is worse than Vorhees bad in my opinion. The difference is Faalele's best is >>> Vorhees presently. Vorhees I think has more long term upside. Faalele has the higher ceiling, but a lower floor. So then it just comes down to what do you want from...

When you factor in price tag, Villanueva was about as bad as it could possibly be. Faalele and Vorhees were dirt cheap. There's worse Olineman on the roster and definitely throughout the league but nobody knows that because they never see the field.

He's also what I assume ridiculously cheap depth. Most teams in this league don't have better reserve Guards than Faalele on their roster. Including, arguably, the Ravens.

Today, probably. 6-7 months from now, if they're out of contention, they'll take whatever they can get mid-season. Which would probably be less than a 1. Don't see his value going up.

Right but an extension is likely part of any trade. I don't think Lawrence gets more than a 1st rounder anyway, so I think its moot. The point is that he will be cheap to the acquiring team but not cheap to the Giants. Function of comp prorations they're now seeing.

    Signings, Cuts, Trades

Well he's not "cheap" to the Giants. His cap hit is $27M. Still 7th in the league at his position. McDuffie would obviously fetch more as somebody who wasn't on an expensive contract and is significantly younger than Lawrence. I don't think a trade's going to happen here, but if it were to...

An "overpay" would be a 1st + mid rounder. Not two firsts. Would imagine this has less to do with him wanting to be traded, and more to do with him wanting a raise on $20M in comp (and the lack of guaranteed $ remaining on his two years). Per usual this is something a raise or extension can fix.

OK, so the absolute maximum amount of time they will spend talking about these weird comparison is 2 minutes. I'm willing to take the under on 30 seconds.

lol so yeah I'm not sure if you've watched the draft before, but the "filling time waiting for the pick" will be filled by a) about 10,000 advertisements over the course of a 4 hour broadcast, b) player interviews for the guys that just got picked (NFL Network does a shit ton of this) and c)...

    1. The media and fans have Tourette's. They don't have the courage to care about anything for more than a day or two. Sashi Brown was half-right... things like this survive longer in light news cycles. Once you get a week past it, nobody cares anymore. The only people who still talk about it are...

I don't think they'll do anything close to that. They don't give a shit.

    Signings, Cuts, Trades

So a) I'm not even sure most fans would piece that part together. Definitely don't think it'll be the "hot topic" of the draft, considering that topic was already discussed ad nauseum when the Ravens swapped one player with a knee issue for another. And b) I think most of the players you're...

Well the good news is that national narratives have a long track record of a) being wrong and b) people forgetting about them quickly.

    1. He ain't showing up for all of it, so don't know why people think he will. 2. The entire point is that since they're "voluntary", nobody knows what they're doing if they're not there. Maybe they're doing high-end workouts with a set of trainers in their hometown, or maybe they're working out...

Pretty much has to be Tyson. Had knee damage in 22-23, a broken collarbone in '24 (although can't imagine that factors into the concerns), and a hamstring injury recently. Only other possibility I see is Chris Bell, who tore his ACL five months ago.
