Good insight. Yeah I know it's easy for us to think trades can happen just like that or that any player is available. This is the reality of what happens when trades don't happen, teams like Miami or New York get greedy and ask for more in turn overvaluing a player's worth. Or, players we thought were available simply weren't available (IE... Chase Young). I do agree on Arden Key though, he's not better than what we already got.Alright last bit of trade deadline info…
Calais deal fell apart not because they actually got higher offers, but the Dolphins simply started asking for more.
Ojulari was never realistic. Despite reports indicating otherwise, the Giants never backed off of their request for a 3rd. They actually started asking for a 2nd.
Arden Key was attainable but they decided he wasn’t an improvement.
I mean, gotta look at it from those teams' perspectives too. In Miami's case, they could have gotten a 7th for Calais. But when you break it down, teams don't really care about 7th round picks. For them, it made more sense to hold onto a guy and see if you can catch a hot streak and make it into the playoffs. Swapping out a quality player for a useless pick doesn't help that possibility, nor does it really help a team in the long run. Kind of the same deal with the Giants, although a little more questionable there.Good insight. Yeah I know it's easy for us to think trades can happen just like that or that any player is available. It is crazy though that Miami thought they could get more for someone like Calais or the Giants thought Ojulari was worth a 2nd... like if you weren't willing to trade them then just say so.
Ojulari upgraded the Giants pass rush when Thibodeux got hurt. He's a good player but I'm glad we didn't overpay cause he's always injured.Good insight. Preston Smith has some rough financials to work through, which is why he only went for a 7th. $450-900k per game roster bonuses (conflicting reports) and relatively large base salaries in 25 and 26 that could be guaranteed for injury. Steelers are taking a risk and a decent financial burden.Ojulari upgraded the Giants pass rush when Thibodeux got hurt. He's a good player but I'm glad we didn't overpay cause he's always injured.
It's the Steelers getting Preston Smith for a 7th that annoys me. That might have been a nice low cost addition and we've got more need for him than they do.
Real talk though, I'm betting Tre White wears nothing but street clothes on the sidelines until/if there's an injury. I understand wanting him in the building but there's no game day role for him as of now. Seems like a pure depth add.
Given the Achilles injury he was always going to be a project and a gamble. Then the ACL, really had some tough luck. No or low production so far, but really hasn’t played enough yet to judge his career as a bust.I forgot David Ojaob was picked in the 2022 NFL draft...thought it was 23'....can comfortably say that he's a draft bust unfortunately.
Marcus williams was the best S once but we dnt believe in him! When twhite came back for bills he was ass.He was the best NFL corner once. Maybe he'll get some of the mojo back when fully healthy.
No way in hell were matching that deal. For a pass rusher possibly.Ravens Reportedly Were in Talks With Saints About CB Marshon Lattimore. Before making the deal for White, the Ravens were in talks with the New Orleans Saints about four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore, according to The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec.

They have two years left on his contract and can afford to pay his next two years. I don't think they overpaid. Here is another way to look at it though.Agreed. I could see us and KC offering a 3rd max. But Washington easily outbid that. I honestly think they overpaid quite a bit tbh
I think overall people overrate the quality of players you find with your average day 3 pick. They have two years left on his contract and can afford to pay his next two years. I don't think they overpaid. Here is another way to look at it though.
Ultimately they traded John Ridgeway, Jahan Dotson, and a 4th round pick for Lattimore and a 5th round pick.
Not bad when you look at it that way!
It was a while ago so I couldn't bring it back up again if I tried, but there was an article in the offseason on this and the Ravens have hit more often than all other teams in the league in the range we've picked. Hollywood, Queen, Bateman, Oweh, Linderbaum, Flowers, and (hopefully) Wiggins all picked in the 20+ range in the DeCosta era is nothing to scoff at.I think overall people overrate the quality of players you find with your average day 3 pick.
I would even say we overrate what you get from your average 1st round pick. I remember a conversation awhile back when the debate was if Oweh is a bust. I ended up looking back 10 years to see everyone drafted in that spot. I expected him to be 4th or 5th and that I could argue that he was decent value for the spot. I did not expect him to be the best at that spot in the past 10 years.
That made me actually start to wonder if the Rams are right about not putting a particularly high value in their 1st round picks and being willing to trade them for good players.
That seems to be the money area where it shouldn't be a tough decision to move a pick if there's a guy you like. In the late 2nd, it's usually a bunch of 'this guy could have been a 1st but is falling because of x reason' or a bunch of guys that can easily be a 3rd round pick too. Draft classes seemingly get weaker and weaker at the top year after year. Colleges don't develop like they used to.Sure as hell wouldn't give a damn about those 2nd rounders
He came back after achilles, played few games then tore ACL. Can't expect much more than ass on half a leg.Marcus williams was the best S once but we dnt believe in him! When twhite came back for bills he was ass.
