I think you're right. Ronnie said that staying in Baltimore his whole career was more important than money, which would have been great cause we were never going to win a bidding war but if that were to happen, it would probably happen early.

There are too many teams with too much cap space and LT needs and I can't really blame him if he wants a second massive contract.
I think his market is a lot stronger then people realize. Plenty of teams will be desperate for a LT and this upcoming free agency group isn't all that strong and at face value, the draft class doesn't look all that great either. I think plenty of teams will pony up big cash for Ronnie Stanley.

I think they would likely move Rosengarten to LT and then draft his replacement or interior OL help. It is a strong OL draft overall.
I've watched a lot of film and I don't think it's a strong OL draft at all. Last year was a good OL draft, this not so much. There are some out there though.

i think it's a pretty good OL draft from the guys I've got to so far - obviously nothing like last year, but last year was pretty outrageous - there's a lot of guys who i think are top 50 type guys

yes, top 50 guys but definitely not elite guys like last year. We may be in position to take one in the 2nd round again and wouldn't be surprised to see us take one in the first, but I also would prefer an edge or cb in the first round. There is going to be a much larger drop off this year for OL. I don't see a guy like Puni who was drafted 86th being there this year due to how good last years OL draft was. Will there be draft and develop guys out there. Absolutely.

That being said, OL isn't the strength of this draft class.

Last year you had an OL class that was exceptional. This year you have an above average OL class. Still good, just not exceptional. I think we may be OK.

It's a possibility. I'm not sure why he would sign until the FA period opens, and I think the Ravens (and the fans) are going to find out that he's going to have a pretty robust market in FA, and his price tag is going to be high.
I think everyone knows his price is gonna be a little high. Only 30yrs old and coming off a great year. If he resigns here, its gonna most certainly be at a discount/pay cut. I really dont think we can afford to lose him.. i dnt believe its worth the risk of having a terrible oline that already needs guards.

It's a rare case where a player probably will take a discount, within reason of course. Ronnie has been very open about (a) wanting to finish his career here and (b) feeling like he owes it to the team after everything that transpired after the original extension, his fault or not. People around the team have long said he's been upfront in saying that to team officials too. I don't think he's going to go out there and turn down $30M additional in guarantees or anything of course, but if it's close, he wants to stay.

So discount? Maybe, but a small one. Like maybe a million a year less or something like that, and the gtd $ would have to be pretty close.
2024 was the paycut year. He took a pretty massive one less than 12 months ago. I don't think he'll be doing that again.

I honestly struggle to identify what type of contract I think he'll get, but I'll be surprised if its less than $20M a year, and likely at least 2-3 years. So from an AAV perspective, I think it'll be at least the amount he signed for in 2020.

Dawkins and Decker both signed 3/$60M in the last twelve months, with about 50% guaranteed. They're in similar age and I'd argue productivity range as Stanley, so I think that's the floor.

Could we afford a similar contract to what dawkins and decker received?

Putting myself in his shoes, anything under 10m in guarantees, id stay with bmore.. now if we talking like 15-20 along with playing in a no tax state, im outta there lol.. im not even big on money neither but im also not a fool lol.. then again, life is already established in bmore so its probably tough af to decide for players in these situations

The no state income tax thing isn't super relevant to athletes in general. For starters, a shit load of states and major cities have jock taxes, which means when they play games in those cities, they have to pay taxes on the income earned from those games in those cities.
Second, a lot of athletes just establish a "permanent" residence in states with no income taxes to partially reduce their tax burden, all the while actually playing in cities that aren't in no income tax states.

I think it matters to teams like hou.. they play like 10 total games a year with no state nor jock tax.. also, i thought regardless of where you live you get paid for playing in that state so nothing would help with taxes for that game check?

Yeah he's going to command big money and it would make no sense for him to sign now. The Ravens will have a difficult decision ahead of them considering his run of injuries prior to this year.

I think if it truly mattered, then you'd see FAs flock to Texas and Florida teams routinely. But that's not happening. States have generally made it so that you're going to be taxed where the $ is made, which means 50% of your $ is going to be taxed in a different state in most cases.

Some players probably just dont care because they see the millions tbh but i can assure you that you will come out better with a 100 million dollar contract playing majority of your games in Fla/texas and tenn than playing in NY or Cali…. Im not saying it matters in team success or anything..was just getting at that under the right circumstances id rather play in a division like the afc south where im playing in hou,fla and tenn most of the time
