Do you guys think this is a better team than last season’s team? I am not seeing it yet.
Depends how you look at it. Think the offense in particular has a chance to be better with Henry in the fold, but worse with the OL questions. On defense, an already great secondary got even better, but the pass rush isn’t exactly a sure thing.

Overall, I think the starting units might be slightly worse than last year. Think the bigger issue is that the depth all over the roster looks to be an obvious step down and we know we’re going to have to rely on those guys at some point.

Impossible to tell, they’ll likely have a slow start a little since they lost a lot including coaches. But honestly they don’t need to be, the best team doesn’t always win, they’ll be good enough, they just need to make the playoffs and finally do the run.
By default, hell no this ain't better with the departures we had. We went 13-4 last year. Unless, we win at least 14 games, we're not gonna be a better win. You know what this season could be? Something similar to the 2020 season.

2019, we had the best record in the league and we follow that up with a wild card win. I could see something like that. I get this feeling that we're not gonna win the division which is fine if we still make the playoffs.

Definitely not. Last years team was extremely good. It is super hard to replicate that. For 2024 to be as goof you'd need

Oweh to take a step and stay healthy to be 2023 Clowney
KVN needs to be exactly his 2023 self
Ojabo needs to be 2023 Oweh
(I don't see any of that happening personally)

Rosengarten needs to be 2023 Moses
Vorhees needs to be 2023 Simpson
Faalele needs to be 2023 Zeitler.
(I'm certain none of that will happen)

Madabuike will need to replicate his year.
(This is unlikely just because of how crazy he was in 2023)

Zay can't get hurt
Bateman will need to stay healthy and at least give you 2023 OBJ
Some backend WR needs to be 2023 Bateman
(This can probably happen)

Trenton Simpson needs to be 2023 PQ
(He'll probably be the 80/20 rule of this)

Zach Orr needs to be a top 5 DC in his rookie debut.
(Probably impossible for anyone)

When you put it like that, I'm overcome by pessimism, my friend. Don't do it to us or yourself. Let's all think bright thoughts, and the gift of a Superbowl victory will present itself. While everything you say is plausible, what you don't say is equally so. I believe that Lamar and his juggernauts will make it impossible for the league to defend. The few factors are a healthy Mandrews, Bate, an incredible Likely, a confident Flowers, and the Spanish bull himself, Henry. Lamar is in his second year of Monken's offense and will milk it fully. Our offense is capable of putting up more points than any offense can put up against our defense led by a first-year DC.

Just believe...

We're still going to be a very good team but no doubt last year's was miles ahead. However, a ton of those players were having career years that I doubt they will replicate regardless (Geno's 7 picks, Clowney healthy and effective + more) so we didn't necessarily make wrong decisions.

This team is way to good to call it a "retool year", as I expect a 11-6 + at least one playoff win, but this is the last year we run with Stanley taking up so much capital. Offensive line really is really stressing me out, and we still play Tj Myles and Hendrickson 2x a year. Hopefully these guys can get some expietence and we add a better LT next season

I'm glad I'm not the only one. THIS is how I feel and it inspired my 50-50 post a few days ago.

We lost a lot of players and coaches. That is difficult to keep up with at the FO level. We are also an injury away in a key position from quite a significant drop from the expectation of the starter. I guess that is a yearly thing, but if Lamar, Derrick, or Flowers goes down, that leaves us with a very marginal backup AND a substantial loss in production from what was expected of those top tier guys.

I feel like I'm on a used car lot listening to why the car I'm uncertain of, "...is the best car I can get in my price range."

Thoughts from Preseason game 2:

Rosengarten looks the real deal - super impressive hands and feet in both phases
Ojabo had a nice debut - showcased the burst, bend, length and hands that made him a 2nd round pick (even with the injury)
Trenton Simpson comes downhill like a runaway train, and showed off some awesome coverage skills too - he also looks like the real deal
Isaac had some promising reps
JAD looked nice
Josh Johnson looked much better
Miller and Kirkwood did their very best to try and start a conversation - cunningham showed some skills worth continuing to develop

Vorhees had some bad moments - the totality was probably not as bad as it seems at first - definitely got better through the 1st half after having a few notably poor reps early - did seem to struggle staying attached at times which looked like an issue with length to me, ended up on the floor a couple of times

Harty was not impressive

Faalele looked ok - some good moments, some less good moments - i was more convinced this time around vs week 1 for sure - looked at his worst when asked to pull or on some QB rollouts

I wasn’t encouraged by rosengarten. I missed a good bit but he looked really rough in the first quarter. I don’t see him starting year one, he looks noticeably small and he seems a bit panicky in his approach.

I think he needs to just get stronger, by quite a bit.

I'm also seeing it closer to you then to rossi. I do think Rosengarten got better as the game went on but is that just because of the decrease in talent across from him?

Stock up and stock down, specifically for bubble guys...

UP:

RB Owen Wright - didn't do anything special but he was on the field and his competition was not

WR Tylan Wallace, WR Anthony Miller, WR Keith Kirkwood, WR Dayton Wade, WR Malik Cunningham - grouping them all together because they all played well, Wade being the best of the bunch. My gut still says Tylan is the guy but one of the vets plus Wade and Cunningham should make a nice PS.

G Tashawn Manning - first replacement at G on the day

C Nick Samac - moved above Dalcourt this week and put together another solid day

CB Pepe Williams - continues to be extremely active in the slot

FS Ar'Darius Washington - may be a lock now, got early reps and then took the pads off

SS Beau Brade - athletically limited but plays hard and is always around the ball

DOWN:

QB Devin Leary - the 53 ain't happening, great arm but wildly erratic

RB Rasheen Ali - the best ability is availability when in a fight

WR Russell Gage - see above

WR Devontez Walker - I do not believe he's in danger of not making the team but he needs to get healthy or else he's riding the inactives list

WR Deonte Harty - a so so day but nothing egregious. Still probably safe because of the contract but I'm not as convinced as I once was

OT Sala Aumavae-Laulu - seems positionless and is mostly getting his reps with dudes that aren't sticking in this league

CB Ka'dar Hollman - a pretty rough coverage day, although his calling card is ST

FS Daryl Worley - younger guys are stepping into the role he's played

I believe I have 46 locks right now, so with the 7 open spots...

RB3 goes to Wright
WR5 and WR6 goes to Harty and Wallace
OL9 goes to Samac
CB6 (assuming Maulet to IR) goes to Pepe
S5 goes to Kane
final open spot goes to ILB Ross

WR and OL are probably the most fluid for me and I think if you picked any of the true candidates, I wouldn't be surprised.

Brade and Wade are the clear cream of the UDFA crop and both could challenge my thoughts above

Yeah I legit can't predict OL or WR.

But I don't think Harty belongs on this team. Harbs in his interview seemed matter of fact with respect to him being here though

I don't see the hate for Harty personally. Think he definitely didn't help himself today but also didn't see anything that made me think he was shit, but maybe that's just me. I'd probably be more pissed if someone else was out there killing it in the return game but it's all been pretty meh overall and I don't know what that reason is with the new rules.

The hate is from the fact that he was no better than any other returner and he's gonna have no WR value whatsoever. And this team desperately needs WR bodies.

Harty might be a good returner…
but is he “I can catch 7 punts” good?

I think not.
