Around the NFL: News and Rumors

New report from FOX 10 in Arizona says that Cardinals President Michael Bidwell is ready to move on from Steve Wilks after only one year. The downside? General Manager Steve Kiem is likely to stay around as Bidwell wants to give him another year to get things right.

Wow... that's stupid crazy if they keep Kiem but bring in another new coach to deal with the current GM who should be fired.

Wilks has been uninspiring but kiem should have been on death row since his offseason incident and gm suspension

Cardinals should just clean house - especially as it was kiem who just made the awful coaching hire in the first place

Latest Coaching News from Ian Rapoport heading into Sunday:

AFC:

- Jets are expected to fire Todd Bowles after the game with the Patriots. He says Bowles may draw interest from teams in need of a HC like the Cardinals. GM Mike Maccagnan is safe but if a coach demanded total control, his status may change.

- The Dolphins may move on from Adam Gase as Stephen Ross is not happy and the Browns may have very high interest in Gase as Jimmy Haslam was a big fan of Gase the last time the Browns needed a coach.

- Despite what fans in Pittsburgh want, Mike Tomlin is not in danger of losing his job. If anything, DC Keith Butler may move on or retire(Bruce Arians also "retired") and some assistants may be let go but that's about it.

- Gregg Williams is not the front runner in Cleveland but will be given a chance to interview for the job. Besides Gase if he is available, the Browns plan on talking to several coaches including Mike McCarthy, Iowa State Coach Matt Campbell, Pats DC Brian Flores and Ohio's own Josh McDaniels.

- Nothing in the camp of Cincinnati as of yet but the fate of the Bengals will be determined next week.

- Doug Marrone is safe in Jacksonville, they will be looking for a new OC with a new QB. No word on a Defensive Coordinator change.

- While most expect Vance Joseph to be fired, Elway may give him one more year with a new Offensive Coordinator and that could see Kubiak return to the Broncos sideline as their OC. (Flacco trade possibility)

NFC:

- If for some reason Steve Wilks remains in Arizona, he may need to hire new Coordinators and part ways with the current ones. Jim Caldwell would be an option at OC if he doesn't take a Head Coaching job.

- River Boat Ron may not have to pack up his bags yet in Carolina as he is believed to be safe along with GM Marty Hurney.

- We all say Dirk Koetter will be gone but don't be surprised if the Glazer Family decides to keep him, GM Jason Licht and QB Jameis Winston around for one more year(why not, join the Giants in the Tank for Tua sweepstakes).

- In Detroit, obviously Matt Patricia is not going anywhere but he may need a new OC. Jim Bob Cooter has an expiring contract and will be sought after.

- Dan Quinn is safe in Atlanta but a change will come at the coordinator spots as OC Steve Sarkisian may be gone and DC Marquand Manuel is likely to join him. (Guess it's easy to blame the DC for all the injuries?)

- In Washington, The Redskins made some big moves by letting go of four marketing executives! Yeah those marketing executives have hurt the team more than we ever know! On a serious note, with team President Bruce Allen not going anywhere it is expected that Jay Gruden will return for one more year. Rightfully so as he's not to blame for a 6-2 season going down the drain due to QB injuries.

Lol, of course Bruce Allen isn’t going anywhere. Who else would Dan Snyder play racquetball with

So apparently the new Rams/Chargers stadium being built is having their 2019 grand opening delayed by a year. Why? Rain, yes rainfall is the reason the Rams will stay at the Coliseum and the Chargers stay 2 years at the Stubhub Center. Also this means that LA will need to request a waiver from the league to allow them to keep the Super Bowl in 2021. League rules say that new stadiums can not host a Super Bowl in their first season.

New York had was granted a wavier to keep Super Bowl 48 in New Jersey due to the temperatures being lower than the threshold mandated by the league. Hmmmmmmm......... The NFL is trying to control mother nature now ok then. Anyway will be interesting to see if the league has to move the 2021 Super Bowl elsewhere.

The 49ers had a super bowl in their initial year.

How much rainfall can they have. It’s Southern California .....

Report: Multiple Teams considering making a run at John Harbaugh.

Jay Glazer of FOX reports that multiple teams currently are considering whether to contact the Ravens in an effort to trade, as a practical matter, for the man who has coached the team since 2008.

Glazer didn’t identify any specific teams, but PFT consistently has heard that the Dolphins and Broncos are willing to explore a possible deal.

good point by gregg rosenthaal on twitter:

"Been a handful of similar stories that John Harbaugh could inspire interest from other teams. Seems out of the Sean Payton get money playbook."

I was just thinking Harbs has a really good agent who is playing every media outlet out there. Like his agent knows an extension will be done but he is trying to maximize as much money as possible for Harbs.

Rex Ryan opened his mouth again. Rex is telling potential assistant coaches that he has a "good shot" at landing an interview with the Dolphins, and there apparently is a push at the University of Miami for Rex Ryan to become their next Head Coach.

Also new Panthers Owner David Tepper confirmed to Ron Rivera himself that he will be the head coach of the Carolina Panthers in 2019.

Schefters comment early today that teams may pursue Harbs “if they lose today”. They didn’t lol. If Steve wants to keep him there simply is no deal.

What fucking pull does Rex Ryan have over the AFC East? After he fails out of Miami is he then going to be BB replacement in NE once he retires?
