The Win, The Outside Runs and The Weather

I think the receivers let Lamar down some and Lamar also threw the ball a bit late at times, which isn’t typical. I’ll chalk it up to rain and frankly a good defense. This was as tough a test as any so good for us for pulling through. Lots of penalties should’ve been called but weren’t and some were called that shouldn’t but it’s over now. We’re on to Buffalo.

That said, Marcus Peters had a bad game. I also don’t quite like how Earl Thomas played this game. I’d need to rewatch the game to be sure but watching live I felt like he took some plays off and had some bad angles in run defense and on at least 2 passes. I also feel like our edge boys got schooled by Mostert and that zone. They killed us on the edges and I worry how we’ll do against BUF as a result

Btw someone's gotta go to the 49ers message board and give them a tip of the cap for a great game and wish them luck the rest of the way. Classy team and from what I've seen on Twitter, nothing but respect for a great game.

I loved the win and agree that if Lamar did not fumble and that DPI was called this could have been less of a nail biter. I am worried about facing them again in a Super Bowl matchup if it happens because they were playing without some of their key starters, Mostert was gashing us, Gould may have been able to hit that field goal if he was heathy. Also, we got a gift from their HC, the time management on that drive before the half was horrendous!!!!

On the reverse run I noticed Ferguson had no idea where the ball was. He ran into his own teammate I believe

Yeah what is going on with Hollywood? One play for one yard? Not good.
Like I said I think the weather really had an effect on the impact he could've had in the game. Also take into account that the 49ers have one of the best pass defenses in the league. But sure Roman could've drew up a few plays for him in the second half when the run game really wasnt working but at that point it was more of a field position/game management battle

Lamar was late and behind on a couple of throws but the 9ers defence really clamped down on our receivers and limited them and took advantage of the weather to lurk slightly closer to the LoS and limit space

Rain really slows down a pass rush and I wonder if blitzing as much as we did was as well thought out today - the blitzing because of the turf conditions wont get a free rusher home as quickly as in drier conditions and gives the qb a split second longer to see the field and a split second longer for the receivers to get themselves open

we really missed a dominant edge guy today

then again the rain worked in our favour to and gave us help vs their ridiculously loaded DL

Another note is how good a job the coaches did in this game and what I think was the biggest factor in us getting this win

49ers had horrible clock management to end the half and we made great defensive adjustments in the 2nd half

We ended the game with great clock management with 6min left in the game to set up a game winning field goal

it's outrageous that we milked the clock with a game winning drive and had triple 0s on the clock at the end of it despite timeouts and the 2-minute warning

Looks like the Browns season is over as well as the Colts too. I don't know what to think of the Bills if they are that good.
