I'm getting kind of nervous lol. This could be totally off base, but this seems like a pivotal offseason for the Ravens. It seems like we are at an inflection point of sorts. The right moves and we could be superbowl contenders. The wrong moves and we may be fighting for 10 wins for years to come.

so which one's gonna be this year's target then boys?
@JAAM

The beauty of the #SIIE counsel is that our candidates can differ due to how we personally feel about them. I'mma be honest. I don't know shit about either Thuney or Linsley. I have a question for both of you: which position would be easier to address in this year's draft between IOL or pass-rusher?

While Watt may be past his prime, his intangibles don't go away and having someone like him in the locker room will bode well for the rest of the young defenders. This is where I stand but I'll be happy to modify my position regarding my #SIIE candidate(s).

EDIT: But don't get it twisted, Robinson is still my #1 SIIE candidate.

hard to say IOL vs pass rush - there's a ton of OL (lots of tackles) and some high quality IOL too so i'd err towards OL being easier to address in this class

but EDGE is a mess of different opinions which makes it more likely that a guy we really like could fall - but also looks like there's a lot of EDGE guys in this class - lots of potential busts too (a ton of athletes who're ridiculously raw)

Watt could easily take a pay cut to join his bro so yea they do have the cap. Could also be why he asked to be released instead of traded...
Edit: just checked and steelers cap is fked. However, they can still maneuver
If Watt becomes a Steeler, it'll need to be a on a multi-year deal with like a $5M or less current year cap hit.

Basically if we're talking paycut, we're talking a very large paycut. Like 50% or more.

I don't see it happening, nor do I really see why the Steelers would do it. Fans are pushing for it because they have the other two brothers. Does that really seem like a good reason to sign a player of this magnitude? I don't.

And the current Steelers cap, which is a big problem for them, also doesn't include some pretty important players they'd like to keep, such as Bud Dupree, who isn't under contract.

And they already have Heyward and Tuitt on big contracts on the outside of their 3-4. Doesn't make any sense financially or from a fit perspective.

I hope they do sign him. They'll likely be a worse football team for it. They'll have lost half their Oline and won't have the money to sign anybody to replace them, they'll have let Dupree walk, and they'll be weaker in the secondary.

And none of that addresses the issue of them being a one dimensional offense with a QB who is regressing in a big way.

Go for it.

So this offseason, provided Orlando stays, we need:

1 iOL
1 OT
1 WR
3 Pass rushers
1 Safety

Do we think we can realistically hit all those needs? My prediction based on EDC comments and Jeff Z's tweets, we might in FA do something like resign Bowser and sign Thuney.

That leaves us with still needing a tackle, a receiver, 2 pass rushers, and a safety. And thats all bare minimum.

Robinson, Golladay and likely Thuney will be tagged I think.

TB has some decisions, Godwin, Barrett and David are up. If Godwin isn't re-signed, or tagged, he would definitely be out of BAL's price range. Easily the best receiver available if he's allowed to hit free agency.

GB is another interesting team. Linsley and Jones are up. Depends where you fall on paying RB's, but Jones would be the best available and it wouldn't be all that close. I would have a lot of interest in Linsley if he is available.

1. I don't see many ways the Bears can tag Robinson. They have no cap space at the moment, and the only QB on the roster is Foles. If they're in play as trade targets for any of the major QBs, like Wentz, that will almost guarantee them no shot at tagging anybody.
Only way Robinson stays in Chicago is on a new deal, and I'm not sure he wants to be there anyway.
2. Pretty much same scenario with Golladay. Lions have no cap space, and will need extensions to keep players, not franchise tags.
3. I don't know why NE would tag Thuney for a second time. It would cost them a fortune, and it doesn't make sense to have a Guard making that much money for a QB you don't have. If they somehow landed Watson or something similar, then maybe. But it would be extremely anti-Belichick to franchise tag an interior lineman for a second straight year.

I expect all three of these guys to hit FA.
