So it’s just miscommunication and poor tackling? Am I dumb for thinking Wink’s scheme is fine?
I mean I think its a mixed bag. I certainly don't think Wink is to blame for the defenses struggles, but it's also pretty clear that what he ideally wants to do defensively isn't necessarily achievable with this personnel, and I can't say he's done a tremendous job of adapting to that.

I think if most fans did a breakdown league wide of personnel groupings, and did a somewhat arbitrary evaluation of "talent" in those groups, I think the Ravens would come out average to below-average in a lot of groups. I think our Dline is below average league-wide, I think our LB core is certainly, at best, average, league-wide, and I think our secondary is pretty strong, though not as strong as we probably need it to be, given the losses of Peters and now Elliott.

Better tackling and better communication will certainly help reduce the big plays that we consistently seem to give up. However, I'm not sold that would like automatically vault us into like a top 10 defense. I think it'll bring us more in-line with like an average defense.

Once again, I'm in the, "...this could go either way," frame of mind. I have not been too impressed all year. I will concede that my feelings stem from a sort of reservation that we're just too injured to really be the team we were intended to be on either side of the ball. It's exhausting, quite frankly. I don't think anyone they are going to plug in is going to make much of a difference on either side. We have holes and deficiencies that we wouldn't likely have had w/o the injuries. So...

Maybe they need to address how they practice in the pre-season, change the conditioning program, who knows, but if these kinds of injuries occur each year, we're hamstrung before anything really starts. I've never seen anything like it before. We're a MASH ward. It's hard to get excited.

tough to be in the upper eschelons of defences if you dont create plays - we can be as sound as we want and this defence's ceiling will still be pretty average because we dont get sacks and we dont create turnovers

obviously turnovers arent a stable stat year on year and there's some luck involved - but only so much

but generally we dont put offences in poor positions

but also not sure we need the defence to be more than average to be competitive

but they dont happen every year

just unlucky with some guys getting rolled up on, another freak contact injury (wolfe), some non-contact injuries

hindered also by a couple of guys taking longer than expected to come back - stanley and boyle

only injury you could really put on the conditioning staff is the bateman one where he had some problems and they tried to manage it rather than shutting him down for a while

Philip Rivers on pEyton and Eli just mentioned the absurdity of the Dolphins lining up in blitz zero 30x and us not doing anything about it . Thanks ROMAN

Sigh. I really thought this was the year where we would just curb stomp everyone.

lmfao. I honestly cant believe he said this after what we all saw Thursday night.
Lmao wow. Fuck that’s a bad look. He’s praying other teams believe him and don’t copy the Dolphins plan is how that looks

Wait, wait, wait. You said this AFTER the injuries to Dobbins, Gus, and Peters?
