During the season, Cincy's offense would do nothing in the first half of games while the defense gave up points. Then the offense would start rolling in the second half to make up for it. I do like your safeties and King is decent. The defense is a liability in my opinion. I doubt Cincy can continue to win games in that manner for very long in today's NFL as defenses will adjust and teams will stop thinking they have Cincy beat after they establish a significant lead.

I disagree. Defenses barely did anything in the playoffs outside of one half from the Rams with their ferocious front 7. Unless your defense is truly dominant, they are basically a non factor in today's NFL. I mean you had the Chiefs and Bills, both with at least decent defenses, who gave up how many points against each other in their playoff game in the last several minutes?

I'm sure this will be brought up again, but when the draft begins please don't bring up names of players that have NOT been drafted.

Defense absolutely matters. If San Francisco doesn't give up just 30 points to Dallas and Green Bay, they don't make it to the conference finals. A top-tier offense can overcome, for sure. But we've seen from the past two SuperBowls how much of a difference a unit can make.

That 49ers defense sure helped against the Chiefs in their Super Bowl.

Right. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact wit the fact the San Francisco ending the Super Bowl with 4 straight drives totaling 2 punts and 2 turnovers, after the interception by Fred Warner. Holding one of the best offenses in recent memory to 10 points through 3 quarters was solely on their offense. Again, an elite offense has the capacity to overcome. But the concept of defenses legitimately not mattering is one of the silliest points I've heard in months.

I think it's also silly to say the Bengals have a liability type defense. That defense did pretty solid and came into its own as the year went on last year. Was it great? No. Was it terrible? Also no. It was good enough to support the offense.

They were arguably solid. Young Pro-Bowl talent in Jessie Bates III and Trey Henderickson, with pieces around them. That's accurate. It doesn't detract from the fact that defenses absolutely make a difference. Otherwise, the Ravens wouldn't have struggled against the Cover 0, nor the Chiefs be limited via Cover 2 shells. And we wouldn't be here blowing wads on defensive FA classes. The two points can and do coexist.

@JO_75 is OTC with the Detroit Lions.

Also, love that Hutchinson pick.
Thanks! It just seemed like the obvious pick. Best in the draft and in a position of need. Especially since I signed Armstead for LT, traded for Brandon Scherff, and having Walker Little slide over to RT after playing a pretty good LT when Cam Robinson was hurt last year.
