Signings, Cuts, Trades

I’ve been against taking Linderbaum at 14 the entire draft process and I think the team feels the same way you do. I think it’s going to be TCC’s job to lose. Been developing with the team 2 years now and is showing no desire to add a vet there
TCC is clearly a guy who the team has a very high opinion of, he’s always seen in sideline interactions and is always showing great energy and despite getting no real game action he’s made the roster time and time again.

I think we may just be riding with him and mekari, and I think come late season we’re all gonna be saying “why the fuck didn’t we go after Tretter?” When they’re not quite up to snuff

I reckon most people would enjoy my company on the sideline but I probably shouldn't be the starting C

idk why it seems more and more likely to you?
if this was the plan all along back since they walked away from boze and gave mekari that contract then i doubt they'd have planned to be able to grab a C in the draft either

and with regards to who i watch - im watching all positions - most of the C prospects that have been mentioned, outside of Linderbaum, as potential day 2 pickups are guard converts - zion johnson, jamaree salyer, dylan parham, cole strange

i just dont get why you would be so confident about us picking a new starting C in the draft... and why you're so confident that we're all wrong about the C class and its fits and schemes
I'm not confident in any of it. I'm just confident that dismissing it as a possibility has a high probability of not working out for you.

For me its simple... what actions have the Ravens taken to make you think they're either a) concerned about the position or b) feel like FA is the only way to address it?

I get its still relatively early in FA, but that market has largely dried up at this point also. So either they like guys currently on the roster, or they like guys they're going to have the ability to get in late April. I think those are unquestionably the two biggest likelihoods at this point.

TCC could definitely improve if given the chance to be the full-time starter - i like that he's already at a place where he's not a liability - but from his appearances so far i wouldnt call him a big plus in any way - but ive never been worried about him as a spot starter and it's definitely possible/probably that he'd develop (at least a little) if given the opportunity to play more

that being said while he didnt "miss" a ton of blocks last year in the running game in his snaps, i did notice him bouncing or falling off some blocks with notable frequency and that inability to stay attached does concern me a little when thinking about him as a starter - but he's only 24 years old and only just entering his 3rd year... this is the time when historically we've had day 3 and udfa guys on the OL step up and progress themselves from good backup to average or above average starter

if TCC's the next in that long line then great - but right now im assuming it's mekari

but you're definitely right that they like him... and there's no reason not to, he gave us solid play as a backup at both guard and center last year

right but you've been suggesting that it's b and im strongly suggesting that given our lack of interest in the position in free agency that it's definitely a...

i think the class isnt great, and they probably also are fine with what they have in the building already

My guess is Ravens will draft an OL and try them at C. Someone who isn’t a C but will convert to the position if we want to do that. Not a bad idea since most college teams have their best linemen at T more times than not. I also don’t think draft prospects are great for C. It can work but there’s a lot that goes into the position. Since we didn’t sign anyone yet I think we will roll with Mekari or TCC to play C and then have a contingency play G if possible.

What's the deal with Calais? How long can we expect him to be unsigned? Do we think it happens next week or way later like after the draft?

Has this offseason in particular changed the market for WRs? The reason I bring it up is because there are a lot of people on reddit (I know I know) who are saying although they want to keep Hollywood and few months ago they thought he'd be affordable, now they think he's simply going to cost too much money.

We gotta see how he does this year with a hopefully healthy Lamar and healthier team. If he plays really really well he might be worth 20m. But if people want to pay him like 25m AAV next year thats gonna be a crazy situation to be a part of.

All indications from EDC are that be really values Hollywood so we'll see. It might make sense to try and add one more guy at WR though as insurance. Obviously not saying the first round. But somewhat early.
