Signings, Cuts, Trades

i do sometimes find what he's doing now disingenuous but i do have to remind myself that whatever this has become, it started off as an honest movement and statement for change - maybe it's become self-serving but when this started it absolutely was not self-serving at all
I agree. it goes beyond the self serving though, the fact that he’s as sharp as a fucking cue ball on his own topic of discussion, it seems to me that he’s never really done the leg work to be a “face of a revolution” but he wants so badly to be that anyway.

You can’t be an activist by being passive, he calls himself an activist but in reality he’s just a martyr, and a really easy-to-dislike one at that.

Ehhhhh even that I’m skeptical of. Living in Northern California, everything he did was on the news, and it seems like he just started to pout and act like a baby once he lost his job. Everything he’s ever done just screamed “give me attention” to me

Plus, to liken the draft process to slavery was just absolutely fucking ridiculous. And anyone that mocks Ray Lewis, whether it’s you or an associate, can go fuck themselves

and yet he was kneeling for the anthem before the whole furore - people just didnt notice and he didnt bring attention to it until others did

and it's not like he needed attention - he was the starting QB for the 49ers and took them to a superbowl and was one of the most electric players in the league

as much as i love the whole draft process...

the combine does make me a little uncomfortable when i think about it too hard

and im pretty sure he wasnt the first or the last guy to make those insinuations about the combine in particular

I would have undoubtedly payed a third and a fifth for devante Parker. Makes you think if the dolphins traded him to the pats it was by far the best offer out there
It's not the trade compensation that's the issue. It's the contract.
And I'm not even saying Parker is expensive, but it would cost over $6M this year to play. That's pretty much all of our available cap space.
And again I go back to... still just one football. Why we would want to take targets away from Bateman, Hollywood, or Andrews, I don't understand. I'd also like to see us involve guys like Dobbins in the passing game more.

I agree. Honestly regardless how we feel about Kap , he got to make a living too. Some of our great minority leaders like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X all died broke or wasn't wealthy at all if im not mistaken . I respect what they did and honored for their sacrifice but people be really thinking that leaders that go against the grain for others no matter the race shouldn't be compensated.

i don't agree with everything Kap did or said but I definitely don't think he started all of this base off greed or revenue. It's is what it is though but I'm not mad at all for him making his money especially since it seems like the league doesn't ever want to welcome him back.

I definitely don't care for him on the Ravens this year. It sucks the first year we ever don't need a vet WR Rob Woods gets traded for a 6th and Devante for a 3rd lol, where were these deals the past decade!

Cost wise of course it makes no sense. If we were to add any wrs, I would only want it through the draft. We have such a backlog of drafted talent but I really hope some can come through and shine.

Not to mention, I'm sure he will be an all pro on the pats lol

Y’all hoping for DK? Maaan I hate the dude lol.

Plus you gotta think about paying him after giving up picks too.

...and, aren't there more pressing needs. I love fantasy football and all but this is silly... unless it's extremely cheap and beneficial to the team. lol!

If this was last year... absolutley see what the asking price is. It seems a first round pick is going to be the starting point based on the rumors. Jets are one of the teams who are interested, Seahawks want the 10th pick in a trade with the Jets which ironically would be the pick they gave up apart of the Jamal Adams trade. I'm not giving up that 14th Pick unless we are moving up for KT or Hamilton.

Never a fan of trading for a player that only have 1 year left remaining on their contract. They hold all the leverage at that point. Would rather spend that 2nd rounder on a Pickens or someone for those 4 cheap years on a rookie contract

The Metcalf situation is interesting, and I've heard some whispers that it could be something we're seriously involved in. On one hand, it's not often that you have an opportunity to acquire a high end WR before they hit that 2nd contract. On the other hand, we've invested a ton into the position and this would be a clear indication that they don't believe in Hollywood for the long term. Can't see this being something that actually happens but still have to remember that this is a high end player available because of a rebuild so there's a little less leverage on the Seahawks side as there would be normally.

he's also potentially only a 1 year rental while lamar remains unsigned long-term - you'd almost have to make his trade contingent on a long-term deal signed at the outset otherwise any capital you give up is tough to let go outside of a day 3 or late day 2 pick

for a 1st or 2nd round pick you've got be getting long-term value out of the player

can absolutely see the ravens sniffing around to see what it would take to bring him here - high quality player who adds a ton of value to any corps he's a part of - that physicality, power, athleticism and YAC is enticing and it would be irresponsible not to do our due diligence

that being said... if we part with the 1st or 2nd round pick to get him, then you're giving up significant capital that could/should be going to the defence just to add another weapon on offence and are somewhat committing to potentially winning shootouts (which i guess could make sense given that we're clearly looking to add playmakers on defence and not worrying necessarily about where they play - easiest way for a defence to help you in a shootout is to get turnovers)

It's definitely an interesting thought. It'd basically be only 1 year but a WR group with Metcalf and Hollywood challenging on the outside while Bateman and Andrews work the inside and middle sounds scary. But making that investment makes it harder to fix the myriad of other issues. It's interesting to think about and I'd be calling and making somewhat of a serious run too. You'd be dumb not to unless you're Cinci basically.
