So Kolar and Ojabo get sent to IR. You bring back Urban and Means. You swap Davis for Drake. Even still you have one too many OL and also you don't have enough OLBs. Totally confused
Also, not confident, but I don't know that you drop Davis for Drake. Think they may end up carrying both in short term.

There's no reason to keep Davis today if you're going to just swap Drake in, which leads me to believe they're both sticking.

Is he hurt? I don't remember him being hurt. Also he's your primary backup RT if he's not actually hurt I don't think they would IR him.
I believe he's been out of practice recently, but haven't followed that closely.
Also don't think he's your primary RT backup. Stanley, James, Mekari and Moses would be your top 4 tackles. So week 1, assuming Stanley is out, I think it's either James or Mekari at LT, Moses at RT.
He's your 5th tackle if Stanley is healthy.

Stanley definitely isn't playing week one. But you're probably right that they'd put Mekari at RT if need be if James was still at LT.

It's actually a waste though. Davis will just get cut week 4 then. Which is fine, but like that spot should have gone to Mack or TJ or someone else who will contribute more and also be on the team longer term.

I could see that. But I am so confused. Like why is Oliver on this team. There's no way he is by tomorrow.
I agree with this take, but Mink says it better:

Re: Josh Oliver, the Ravens love tight ends. Boyle is still working his way back to full strength so may need more in-line blocking help. Oliver is huge and flashed as a receiver in the preseason finale. Remember how much the Ravens used Eric Tomlinson the past couple years?

McFarland suggesting that Travis Jones or even Stanley could end up on IR to open the year as well. Jones makes some sense, since he would seem likely to miss the first 2-3 weeks, minimum, based on his timeline. Would think Dobbins (highly unlikely in my opinion) or Stanley going on IR would be highly disappointing at this stage, though again, Stanley hasn't practiced in like a year...

Dang Stanley still not ready to go? I thought it was just conditioning at this point.

My thing with all of these guys going to IR is that you only get to bring 8 guys back. Not that all of the guys you put on now have to be activated, but just not sure they’re gonna hedge their bets this early on 4-5 guys

I mean I don't think anybody knows. Dude hasn't done any team drills in a year basically. While he's an All-Pro with experience, I seriously doubt they're just waiting for him to like get in game shape and then throw him out there against a real-life pass rush without at least a week or two of like actual practice.
Maybe I'm wrong. But it's a four game minimum for IR. Harbaugh said he ideally wanted like 3 weeks of practice out of these guys, he hasn't practiced yet, and its less than two weeks before kickoff. If he doesn't practice this week, I'd probably consider it.

Dang everyone had Badie making the team. That is a surprising cut. He didn't look impressive but none of the rbs did.
I don’t think it’s too surprising. If he wasn’t a draft pick I wouldn’t have had him on. Felt more and more over the last couple of days that he wasn’t making it and a lot of other people started feeling that way too.

Also why I'm lukewarm on the idea of Gus coming back this year. Feels like he isn't close. 8 is a lot of return guys, but if you're already earmarking Gus, Ojabo, Bowser, and then they're floating Stanley, Jones and/or Dobbins, that's like half of your designated to return slots gone before first kickoff. You get a couple guys with high ankle sprains mid-year, and they'll have to carry them on the 53 instead of IR, which isn't ideal.

I think Jones probably goes to IR, but Stanley and Dobbins avoid it. So you got 4 guys already that I think they'd like to bring back. Also why I think its possible, though maybe not right now, that Faalele doesn't come back. Not sure he's a "return" guy unless you're really healthy throughout the year.

Yeah the Badie thing became pretty clear with the Drake news.
I'd have gone Badie over Hill, mostly for the cap savings and the youth.

I'll also say... I'm disappointed in how we approached RB more than anything. I'll be in the minority, but I'm not high on Drake or Davis. They may be upgrades over Murray and the plodders we had last year, but I'm not sure its a huge upgrade.
You went into the offseason knowing Dobbins and Edwards were coming off huge injuries, and knowing that Edwards injury was worse than expected. I think we could have done something better in the draft to address a RB than a 6th round pick who got cut.
