So is Duv a legit, consistent receiving threat? I’m genuinely surprised at how well he’s playing
he's got a defined role in the offence that focuses on what he does well and importantly he has lamar's trust because of how great his hands are and how good he is in the redzone especially - 2 of his 3 TDs have been on fades where lamar's given put the ball in a perfect spot despite minimal separation to let duv make a play
he's playing his role well within the route combos and was the recipient of the 2nd TD against the jets off a beautiful concept that got him wide open in the endzone
but the most important part of his WR development has been to continue working his release in man - it was his main weapon in 2021 and you could see Dubb's hands all over his releases and i think this year clearly that was again a point of emphasis - the way he takes space and then uses his physicality and power and straight-line burst to work past the jam or close space to reduce reaction time for corners when they give him space
and on top of that he's running a bunch of clear-outs at full-speed
im very happy with him as a top 3 WR on the team - he's still limited in some parts of his game but that's fine because he doesnt have to be the shifty guy who runs choice routes or the guy who's able to explode out of his break back to the ball on a comeback or a curl
with how much we run 22 personnel, he's absolutely fine as our 2nd WR because of how much Andrews and Likely play in the slot and work the middle of the field
