The 2023 Offseason Thread

Never liked the Elam pick but I thought Brown was a steal
Right there with ya, but I think we all convinced ourselves that out of pure desperation from Ray leaving

First known name

Hmm tough call to work with Lamar or Herbert. Charges are in a better situation offensively but Lamar can do more than Herbert

I'm having a hard time understanding how we draft a top WR with the 20 or 21 pick. With the expense of that position in FA there are going to be teams picking and reaching for WR's thru out the draft just to avoid having to pay FA money. With also having only 5 picks, there's no real capital to trade up either. I'd prefer we don't go WR in the first round. I would rather see a DL or CB there. I think other teams are going to be running on WR and that always means good players fall.

That said, I would much prefer the Ravens use the Buck Showalter Starting Pitching Model as it relates to WR. Get me two legit number 2's in FA who are DURABLE and can catch the ball. Don't spend top money, spend second or third tier money for a real nice pair of reliable performers and let the other teams go hog wild on top names and projects from the draft.

That leaves us more money to potentially have Lamar too. Either on the tag or not.
Idk about any models but id prefer a bunch of #2 wrs than those top guys like adams and jefferson..

Yeah, has it been announced? I’m curious what it was
All I could find was that there was "fraudulent activity regarding someone accessing university e-mail accounts without authorization." This took place sometime between Dec 21-23 and it was on a computer in the university athletic dept.

That was my favorite thing about that Orlovsky clip - he talks about a Pro Style offense Vs. Roman's offense - which is another point to me in the silly argument about what people mean when they say 'pro style'. ^_^
Just makes me laugh that a lot of people , including myself, who never played football at level higher than high school are all nodding like “ ah yes the pro style that’s what we need.”

I may be totally biased (I definitely am), but I'm not sure Chuck Clark is a surefire cut unless the Ravens are very in need of cap space. You're saving $3.6M and under $3M when you factor in a replacement.

Given the Ravens are almost assuredly down Marcus Peters, I don't think they'd want to lose a starting strong safety without a clear replacement on the roster.

The reason I don't know if Hamilton is a clear replacement is he struggled early on, and was benched often, for struggles containing over the top, but he absolutely came into his own and really shined as a big SCB and playing in the box.

If you view Hamilton as a SCB/big nickel, you don't have a clear replacement at SS since Stone is also a FA, I believe. If you view Hamilton as your answer at SS, you're placing A LOT of faith in guys like JAD, Stephens, and Williams to step up and fill in two spots. Or relying on a rookie corner, which is far from a guarantee as far as transitions to the pros go.

I just personally see value in keeping him, especially if they get Lamar signed.

I think more likely they move on from chuck and try and bring back geno for another year for cheap

This WR class isn’t as good as previous years though

But then lists random, limited college offensive coordinators as replacements

Not a particularly cohesive argument
