The 2024 Offseason Thread

Even if Henry isn't the at his most elite, it's gonna be really cool to have a real RB again. It's literally been years
We had one, he got hurt. So did Andrews for that matter. Even in our best injury year we lost two insane weapons.

But I do concur, and Henry is obviously more complete than Mitchell. I’m just bitter. Should be like the 2019 team, he’s gonna have an amazing season like Ingram did.

Edit - And now I’m completely forgetting about Dobbins. Sigh lmao

Seems Judon is acting up in Patriots camp.... maybe he just needs to come home. Maybe now but potentially at the trade deadline perhaps depending on the Patriots season at that point, we could get Judon in a good deal.

I’d welcome it. Judon pissed me off with the dumbass penalties at times but he was one of the most respected characters in our locker room

This offseason is so god damn boring…. Feels like we’re going to pick up right where we left off… maybe a little better offensively and a little worse defensively … I need football and hockey season back already

Now that all 4 majors are done I’m with you. The Orioles are good but baseball is kind of a drag until playoffs.

I also think Os fans have an impending feeling of doom based of the play this past month. I disagree with that notion, I think you guys have the horses currently to win a WS. All the matters is who gets hot down the stretch. I'm over baseball with the Rays going full fire sale mode.
I really is boring. Not a big Olympics guy and Orioles are frustrating to watch right now.
Olympics might be the most boring sporting event of all time. I dont know why we lie to ourselves as we pretend to get jazzed up about swimming, gymnastics, and track....

Totally agree with Olympics, especially since Phelps is retired. Always find it funny the ppl who claim to enjoy it the most are ppl who don’t actually like “real” sports.

He was playing much better these playoffs too, Zay Flowers cost us the game, but certainly Lamar a TD. Burrow should have had 4 INTs last year but two got called back, literally no one says anything. His best plays were underthrown jump balls into double coverage, but all we hear about is Lamar’s INT that kind of had DPI albeit would have been a bail out call. The double standards piss me off so much, especially having to hear it from a poverty franchise.
You get a pass when you get your team to the Super Bowl or at the very least perform well in the playoffs (hence why Allen is given a lot of rope).

I would argue the narrative for Lamar is fair. He is generally considered an absolute top 2 WB during the regular season but doesn’t seem to be able to put it together in the playoffs. It’s the same narrative Peyton Manning had, and tbh after the first couple years he had MUCH better playoff performances but the narrative stuck.

Right now there is really nothing Lamar can do until January to change that narrative. The Ravens either need to win or he needs to play well in a loss. Right now in 6 games that second half against Houston was the only half that you can say was a great half without a qualifier.

Allen has played better than Burrow has, I think Burrows playoff performances have been overstated by some. The scary thing about Lamar if he’s to follow Peyton is that Peyton never really had great playoff performances, the two super bowls he had he was carried immensely by the defense, had more INTs than TDs. Lamar playing well in a loss won’t be enough either, he’s held to the highest standard and has to win a Super Bowl, it’s the only way.

Lamar has two MVPs, I think this should matter more than good playoff performances from Allen (mostly against wild card teams and losing to chiefs) and a Super Bowl appearance from Burrow in a down year for the afc (Titans 1 seed) with injured Lamar, considering the 3 of them have no Super Bowl win.

Peyton has had a LOT of great playoff performances outside of those two Super Bowl seasons. Combine that with the rings and it takes the edge off a little. Josh Allen has similar great playoff games. Joe Burrow has a pretty solid playoff resume both in terms of results and performance (260 YPG 94 rating).

The big problem is Lamar really doesn’t have any of that. For the Ravens the worst game Lamar has played in all 4 years he was healthy for the playoffs was the playoff game that sent them home. It was also the least points the team scored when lead by him all 4 times (this year it did tie with Steelers game but the other 3 there was no tie).

Fortunately Lamar is young enough that one good run (or one/two great games in a loss) can shift the narrative. I just can’t say it’s an unfair narrative though in the same way it wasn’t unfair to criticize Peyton in those early years. When you are an elite MVP people expect that in the playoffs and it just has not been there.

I think he did turn a corner this year, Flowers fumbled away a TD and forced us into more of a desperation mode. I agree overall, but it’s also funny that when we had Flacco who was a playoff monster 2011-2014 no one seemed to care and would dismiss the playoffs as small sample size. Now we have the reverse with Lamar and nothing he does matters at all unless he wins a Super Bowl. Simplified exaggeration but it’s just funny.

Speaking of the Olympics … SUCK IT AUSTRALIA we beat you in your own stupid sport. Do we have an aussies in here?
