2024 Training Camp

I mean you’re right, I’m not convinced it’s bad yet though
An honest assessment.

Ronnie claims he's healthier now than at any point last year. If true, a good sign.

Vorhees has taken the reigns at LG. He was a good prospect. He says he recovered relatively quickly. All good signs.

Linderbaum. Enough said.

RG: Gonna guess this is a total nightmare. The fact that Faalele is really competing for the starting spot ahead of Cleveland and Sala who have spent a ton more time than him is a bad sign. This is also the Faalele they don't trust to be RT1.

RT: Mekari is probably the guy for at least half a season. He'll be ok. He's always ok.

Think in the best case scenario you have a strong left side and a serviceable right side.

Worst case you have a strong left side and the right side is a total disaster.

Rosengarten got a shot with the 1st team on Thursday and Harbaugh said he has been steadily improving. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mekari start, but it wouldn't surprise me if Rosengarten is the starter either, due to Mekari's value as a backup to every OL position.

Why do you think we have a bad O line?
When you lose 3 guys along the oline, thats usually how it goes that following season.. no free agent pick ups? im not really counting on our guys to hold up like last year.. never know though, those guys may somehow start playing great i guess

I think they’ll be fine, maybe even better.

the only way i think they could be better is if Stanley is back to himself and i don't mean back to pro bowl self, but plays well and stays healthy. Vorhees could very well be better than Simpson but the right side may not be as good.

It's still early but it also looks like it's going to be very difficult for a UDFA to crack the original 53 this year. I'm not sure I see anyone that's truly in the hunt right now.

Guys like Joe Evans, Yvandy Rigby, and Beau Brade probably have the best shot on paper due to potential ST contributions and thinner depth charts in front of them, but not much positive news coming out of any of those names.

tbf to yvandy rigby he only just started practicing because of injury to start camp

Time to play "which draft pick(s) will miss the initial 53?". Me first. Wild guesses as usually.

Kane - hard to find room in that secondary. Has to be a demon on ST. 70% risk being cut
Samac - probably makes it , 20% cut
Leary - I don't see the Ravens using a spot for QB3, especially an INT machine, 90% cut. Worth the risk, I do not think he gets poached, but can develop over time
Ali - no fumbles in preseason = 0% cut risk. 2 PS fumbles =80% cut risk (Harbs just loves those fumbling RBs)

Everyone else is safe unless they murder someone

Think Ali just had a fumble a day or two ago, but I'm pretty certain he makes the team.

Kane was a player they picked literally just because they had a draft pick and had to pick someone.

I watched some Kane tape, and let’s just say I don’t see an nfl player by any means.

I really think we are in more trouble with the line then most think. I want Ronnie to be "healthier than ever", but it feels like I've heard this 3 straight years now and I'd honestly say if he only misses 4-5 games is best case. I love Vorhees, but he hasn't ever taken a NFL snap. I do feel fans love him because we're absolutely fucked if we can't rely on him.

As a UDUB alumni I hope Rodger does well, but did anyone watch the national championship game?? TJ Myles Garret and Hendrickson are going to eat him alive in year one. I know mekari will start the season at RT, but I expect him to be filling into other positions as line injuries are inevitable.

Right guard is a disaster. It's one of the biggest roster construction mistakes we have made to let Kevin zietler go, especially considering he signed 1 year 6 mil. We all know they thought Cleveland would be taking the step, but like @UPennChem said, Faaele getting reps there is a scary sign.

I'm not saying it'll be this bad, but I think people are underselling how low a realistic floor is for the line. God forbid Tyler goes down, we have a case for the worst line in the entire NFL.

It's not like there are going to be good quality linemen who get cut unlike WR or some other deeper positions. I don't believe we've made a training camp trade since Lee Evans for anyone who was actually suppose to have impact, but getting a "good enough" rg would make me feel a lot easier. I know the rule is you can have 2 bad linemen and just not next to each other, but man seeing Chris jones fuck up our guards who can't even block Washington in practice is going to suck. People are counting on Stanley and Vorhees because we have no choice. Stanley had to alternate series last year. I expect to see us doing that often early

On the other hand, I feel great about Simpson and the news we have heard, and think this is the most talented secondary we've had in 10+ years. A bit worried about pass rushers but I'll give Orr a fair shot as I think he's talented and has some great other chess pieces to help cover lack of depth.

I'm pretty nervous too. And I totally agree, I can't understand the Zeitler one. Even having just retained him makes this line way more stabilized.

My guess is our defense is just as good as last year. If not plus or minus a little.

Areas to worry are simply loss of PQ and Clowney.

If Simpson is 80% of PQ, I think we're gonna be totally fine there.

Clowney doesn't need to be replaced individually. Oweh, Ojabo, Isaac, Trob all will have their chances. KVN is still there.

And all that being said this secondary is insane. Ro is another year in the system. Kyle another year. Marlon is actually healthy. Wiggins seems likes he's gonna be a beast. Jackson is better than Stone as S3.

I have no problem with losing clowney because I think it's highly unlikely he could replicate what he did regardless. Having maulet and Kyle as options in the slot plus Marlon makes us possibly the deepest we've ever been there. Not to mention all 3 of those guys are pretty good at blitzing, so I'm excited to see the looks. Everyone is going to have to throw outside the numbers on us but such a window with elite safeties. I'm really excited to see it
