The Running Game, the Turnovers, and the Same Ol’ Ravens

only gameplan question i do have now the dust has settled...

where was the QB run game stuff? we saw barely any zone read stuff... maybe with the weather they didn't want to use the mesh as much? that's my only thought... in which case the weather was a massive equaliser and help for the bills if that was the case
I assumed the lack of zone read was fear of fumbles pulling a cold ball. So a huge part of the Ravens' game lost and they were still able to move the ball pretty easily. I was upset about Lamar not running more - seems like keeping it in his hands would have been a great idea on the 2 pointers. Maybe he got hurt after that tackle out of bounds? Maybe they feared him fumbling again with the cold ball if he ran? I don't recall him running again at all.

Bruh did you see freaking Mack Hollins on Offense for the Bills? That dude was borderline unsportsmanlike conduct lol. If you don't know what I mean, just go back and watch the final Bills drive. It was like he did some roids or some bath salts or some shit a few minutes ago. Was wild. He looked like he was out there playing defense on offense for the Bills.
Dam i didnt see him? Wtf did he do. I never pay attention to mack hollins. All that barefoot shit is the only reason why he gets any attention.

I lost 800 winning ticket off .5 yards rushing with lamar. Brung it down to 39.5 he had 39 lol

So, with the same thing happening multiple years in a row, we need to start a Purpleflock holiday.
Every time the Ravens get eliminated, BmoreBirds bans BoredMarine, so I'm thinking we need some kind of Guy Fawkes kind of celebration where we all wear BoredMarine masks, have a virtual bonfire and burn some effigies of him. I haven't perfected the idea yet, so I'm open to suggestions, but traditions are important.

With respect to Mark Andrews, I'm beginning to wonder if his struggles in the postseason are related to the adverse weather conditions. He does not lack in the catch radius department, never has. But on the lateral routes, Andrews tends to pin the ball to his pads, which feels like it directly leads to awkward corrals and double catches. As it stands, the drop offs among his figures are staggering.

Through 8 playoff games so far, Andrews has amassed:

29 catches on 52 targets at 55.8%
315 receiving yards
7 drops (not including the 2 PT) at 19.4%
2 for 11 on contested catches at 18.2%
2 forced missed tackles
0 TDs and 3 INTs, totaling a 49.8 QB rating when targeted

These are remarkable lows. His career numbers in the regular season contain:

70.2% catch percentage, 3.5% drop rate, 50.4% on contested catches, and a 113.7 QB rating when targeted. This year alone, those figures were at 79.7%, 3.5%, 75.0%, and 140.9.

I'm sure it goes beyond just this. There's a mental aspect to the issues that can't be understated. But golly, his outputs and performances between the regular season and the playoffs are night and day.

Lots of small details that could have changed the outcome: the 3 turnovers, the 2*2pts conversions, the 4 dropped passes, etc.
The play that I'd really want back is the Bills conversion on 3rd down on their first series (the pass to Shakir). If that doesn't happen, the Ravens have all the momentum, a 7-0 lead and the ball. Might have completely changed the style of game that both sides would have to play. But that's just a thought experiment at this point.

What a shitshow. We didn't punt this game lmao. If we don't turn the ball over, it's a blowout and all time playoff performance for Lamar. And instead people are saying it's legacy cementing and who knows if he can mentally come back? How much mental abuse can I guy take?
Most certainly putting up 30+. Allen really didn't do that much against us either. Now granted, he didn't need to as our run defense was leaky but still. I think they only had one long TD drive which was their opening drive. Other from that, the others were from our turnovers.

As for Lamar, I'm at the point where I don't care if he gets carried to a SB win, I just want him to win one.

This confirms what I and a few others spoke about in a different group. We went years going to battle with this guy as our number 1 receiver in the playoffs.

He does not perform well. Ever. Win or lose.

Andrews was trying to create more yards, which was why the fumble was forced. I'm not sure why Andrews, who is about as graceful as a baby deer on ice, thought it was a good idea to try to completely reverse direction with two defenders right there. Just go down.
I was wondering why he didn't just ran straight forward like he typically does. Maybe not a guaranteed house call, but for sure, gets us closer in FG range.

Anytime we get a Romo-called game, I’m putting it on mute. I just can’t anymore.

Also, I’d be unbelievably pissed if we let Likely walk. I’m fine with cutting Mark after next season and extending Likely, cost permitting. There is no way we can let him leave.

Likely is special. I know we do a great job finding TEs, it’s the position we draft best by far, but Likely would be a very hard replacement. Hes got intangibles that you gotta hope you just luck out to replace, it’s hard to pinpoint the kinda awareness he has in a prospect, his YAC is special, at his size he has an incredible ability to stop on a dime and he uses it so well, the way he uses his upper and lower body in tandem in all aspects of playing TE, dude is just different.

The way he palms the ball, too. Will literally hold it out in one hand. He's one of the most confident plucking TEs in football, I feel.
