The Forty, the Fumble, and the Fucking Déjà Vu

Well the copium is rookies on D first start, Bills had way more luck than we did, dropped INTs and 4th down tipped passes for TDs, and a Henry implosion and a missed PAT.

When do we get lucky wins ?
I've always said that good teams create their own luck. That is to say that when you're good, you're generally in a position where luck will benefit you more frequently and make the difference.

In theory, the Ravens are the exact type of team that should benefit from luck frequently because they're so talented they're usually in every game through the end.

The fact that they can't capitalize on it defensively is... saddening.

Unless Derrick had cramps too, the most bare minimum thing Lamar had to do was hand it off to Henry and let Henry ice the game. If the cramps were bad enough that he couldn't simply hand the ball off to Henry, get Cooper out there to hand the ball to Henry.
So in my opinion, there's no scenario where you go for it on 4th and 3 and just hand it to Henry. Very low % chance he converts on that play. If Rush is out there, he gets dropped for lost yardage (which happened several times last night) because they wouldn't respect Rush's ability to throw or run.

At a minimum, it's a read option where Lamar has the opportunity to keep (which he almost certainly would). Realistically, it's a designed pass play in most instances.

Defense had many fails for sure. And I don't think anyone would expect a "flawless" performance on either side of the ball. But I think our last 3 possessions were a fumble a two 3 and outs. That's not acceptable when trying to close out a game.

You have to go for it on that final final 4th & 3. You HAVE to. Really my only complaint of the game. Allen delivered maybe the best performance of his career and your watching in real time, you know you have to salt it with the ball in Lamar's hands.

Everyone is focused on the 4th & 3 but the play calling that got us there in the first place is the real problem. A Derrick Henry run for 3, a jet sweep to Zay for a loss of 1, and then a drag route to DHop that was run short of the sticks. 2nd and 3rd down play calling was abysmal in that sequence.

That's why I don't mind the punt. I had 0 trust in them to draw something up that would get the job done. And that's not even considering Lamar cramping.

I hated the Jet sweep, but still, you HAVE to go for it on pretty much anything 4th & 5 or less.

It bothers me Jaire didn’t let them score, that was so frustrating, albeit, Hamilton came so close to blocking that

I don't necessarily agree but understand I'm probably on an island with that thought. Just felt like we were too shell-shocked and too panicked at that stage for anything good to come out of it. They didn't look like a team that wanted to win that game.

Shell shocked puh-lease, that's what you pay Lamar 250+ million for, you give him the ball and win or die with that.

Situational awareness. It's something I preach at work daily. Of course we have the benefit of knowing how it ended up, but Keon was going to the end zone on that shit. Eradicated all of our hopes with a simple ankle swipe.

sometimes you just have to laugh.

Man.....

I do not understand for the life of me, why the Ravens are dying on this hill. He must be like Larry Allen in practice because every single game there are at least 3 plays where he looks like he has never stepped foot on a football field before. It is genuinely mind blowing stuff.

I'm not saying I disagree with that notion. I just disagree with the idea that the team I was watching at that time had any shot of converting. Coaches panicked. Players looked dejected. Momentum swung considerably and no one responded. Not one player on the offense had the "let's go win this shit" attitude at that time.

All that talent on defence for what. Roquan bouncing off James Cook on his big play makes me feel unwell. Marlo letting them get out of bounds to kick the field goal. Jaire just having a terrible game. Oweh... I dont even know what he did.

Even worse, he the best guard we have on the team lol

Even though i agree with you, all it takes is one play! If we had to march down the field to score, i wouldnt have faith but 1 play? That dejection gonna go away soon as you get out there knowing you only need 2 yards to win the game. One little prep talk in the huddle and everyone good for one single play.

Depends on if Lamar was able to go for that play or not. That was part of the problem.
