I had this thought too. Even if he promotes Webb to OC… he is still not getting the recognition of being a play caller if that’s what he desires. However, it may be enough to keep him around for one more year until he gets hired next cycle. But do you really fire your colleague of 15 years to keep a guy for one more year?

I just can’t see this being the case. It appears to me that we are targeting a young guy who has fresh perspectives on the game.

These are just my thoughts and I may be in the minority here but if we could pull off Declan and add someone like Tanner Engstrand (in a PGC role) I would be happy with that. Pairing them with Dwayne Ledford in the run game would be an interesting pairing.

My thinking is that they hoped to have some of the coaching staff positions filled by Thursday when the presser was initially scheduled but due to the logjam that had been held up by the Bills job and other HC jobs, it’s probably not going to happen by Thursday.

I don’t necessarily disagree that he shouldn’t become OC, but if the coaches and FO believe he can do it(even if they don’t see him as the absolute best option) and, say Lamar would really like to give it a run with Tee, I could at least get behind it.

It would be incredibly risky for sure
