Seems like Declan commanding respect amongst the players early.

All the clips I'm seeing give a certain attention to detail around the team as a whole.

Hope he works out. I saw a video where LJ said Declan Doyle cussed at him. I honestly find it hard to believe he didn't experience that with Todd Monken.

I highly doubt Monken hasn't cursed him out before. It just feels like now were moving into the current NFL passing wise and this is no knock on Todd. I just feel scheme wise we will be ahead of the curve on both sides of the ball.

I don’t even think the scheme was bad with Monken. The only knock I could really give Monken was it felt like every play was either a 5 yard run by Derrick Henry, a screen dump off to Justice Hill, or long developing routes down the field.

Monken is a solid coordinator, and while last year wasn’t his best work, I would say his only real issues stem from having Lamar play hero ball too much and a lack of intermediate, quick routes. I know Lamar hasn’t traditionally been a “timing” guy throwing the ball, but there was never even a threat of it.

Doyle has been saying all the right things so far about giving Lamar some easier pass plays. I just hope it’s not at the expense of losing a dominant run game like Roman or explosive plays we saw with Monken.

Yeah seems like LJ may be still a little concerned about his images since it was reports out there that him and Monken didn't really see eye to eye. He even mentioned how he's a coachable players as well but I doubt Monken never cursed at him. Honestly when it comes to Declan Doyle I don't know what to think or really feel. I honestly thought Monken offense suited LJ more as it typically gave him more freedom to audible and it was a fast pace offense. Doyle offense may be a little different from that but we shall see

If our offense performs like a top 10 unit, Doyle will have at most one more season with us before teams start knocking on our door for him to be a HC candidate.

I wasnt taking a shot at Monken. Would have had no problem retaining him. Just think we're going to take another step with Doyle.

Wild how things change in a year

was wild the way they pushed reuben lowery onto that roster
he clearly practised well but we didnt see any evidence of it

showed very little in preseason or special teams etc. to suggest he should have made that roster
the fact that he was potentially ahead in the pecking order of keyon martin and jay higgins as well lol

wild that we're entering the 9th season of Lamar and this is the first time they've got him a true young psycho as a OC

if it goes as well as we hope, the "at most" in your post might be doing some heavy-lifting there

All I kept hearing last TC was him making INT after INT in practice. And he did get one in preseason even if it was just a gift.

But definitely one of those guys that looked remarkably out of place when he got an opportunity in a meaningful game. Athleticism just never seemed to be there. That one start was absolutely dreadful. I find it hard to put it all on him because we were rolling out an entire starting lineup of rookies and backups essentially and they all sucked, but he was a big part of the problem.

at least with guys like keyon martin you could see it - you could see some pro level traits (even if he was deficient in other places... hence why he was udfa), i wasnt a fan of higgins but at least you could see how quick he was to read, his processing was good but he has to overcome his athleticism (hence why he was udfa)

lowery i just don't understand what it was that he had that made him stick
