Signings, Cuts, Trades

I guess while I'm here, they're obviously keeping tabs on OL. They're also keeping an eye out at WR and Edge. Don't think they're pressed to make a move anywhere but they've been in contact with guys.

Think you could see them sub out some UDFAs for some borderline vets (a la that K'Von Wallace deal) as TC approaches but all is quiet on the home front right now for the most part. They really want to give reps to their young guys.

I know he's coming off an ACL tear but might be worth a look. Brings valuable starting experience as a Center so there is that. Especially if there is no clear cut winner at Center among our current players.

@Simba Could this be something the team was monitoring or no interest at all?

I liked pocic a lot as a draft prospect, but that was a long damn time ago

So you’re saying there’s a chance…

E. Po!

Haven’t seen numbers yet but should be new starting C based off pedigree alone, no?

Why do I feel like Pinter is gonna start anyway
I guess my thought is... does it matter?
I'm for once happy that the "problem" areas seem to be at positions that are valued the least. I'm fine being average or even below average at C. Just like I'm find being average or below average at ILB. Honestly the only area I have maybe some concerns with at this point is WR, and that's just purely based on the seemingly youth movement.
Other than that, this team is running out of excuses to be very good in my opinion.

Agreed

Yup. Just seen the news. At worst, he should be good depth. If he works his way back I'm not worried about the OL, barring injuries. I'm fine with what we have at wr.

Guess they felt good about the health and the clearance. I know they were not quite as optimistic early in the offseason, but I knew they were planning to revisit. Seems like that went well.

Pocic has actually turned into a decent player though. Nothing special but someone you can trot out there and trust to do their job. Been banged up a decent bit throughout his career though. Feels like he should be the favorite for the job, assuming he’s healthy.

On the scale of Matt Skura to Jeremy Zutta what should we expect

I mean he's basically like 8-9 months from an achilles tear, and he was pretty much a league-average C when he was healthy. So I wouldn't expect him to just post up in a week and be dominant.

I think it'll be a good camp battle, but I also don't think there's a huge gap between the two.

money-wise he's getting about 250k more than pinter but with some incentives on top
think it's going to be a fairly open 2-way competition between those two - at least it should now be an actual competition

Pocic is more proven obviously, but also offers less as a run blocker athletically and is coming off the achilles

both are decent fits for what Ledford wants

i actually think Pinter is probably the better option right now especially given the two guards we've got now
but it's possible that the value of Pocic's experience making calls etc. (at least while Vega is settling in) is more important than the run blocking upside of Pinter

im really hoping that this is going to be a true camp competition
has felt like a while since we actually had a true OL competition that wasn't fake

yes, he's average but he does provide a lot of experience at the center position. No guarantee he wins the starting job and if he doesn't that just means our team is that much stronger.
