Around the NFL: News and Rumors

I didn’t realise this until now but James Harrison had 2 sacks for the pats last week... classic pats move

Despite my hatred for them I really am now kind of rooting for the pats to take out the steelers because I want Harrison to beat them lol
they were both in garbage time tbh

interesting factoid about hue jackson being retained - apparently it wasnt john dorsey's decision but something that jimmy haslam informed everyone about - that's not a great way to start a relationship with the guys you want to work together to turn your franchise around...

Sounds like Dan Snyder.

Back in 2010 when he hired Snyder he said, I’ll get out of your hair and let your make the decisions. A month later he forced him to sign McNabb. Oh and then the RG3 debacle. Snyder doesn’t know how to let football people make decisions. Doesn’t look like Haslam does either.

Lol, Haslam even brought in baseball people to evaluate college players

Jeez, the Packers staff is being exploded - DC gone + a couple of assistants, OC reassigned, QB coach gone and reports that the new GM will have free reign to decide whether he wants to keep mccarthy or not

That's how you do it if the team is underperforming with player choices and on the field, while having one of the best QBs of all time.

oh really - i thought he got chucked out the door when sashi got thrown out too?
interesting that depodesta is still there then - maybe they will get to finish the project then to see if it properly works
Nope. DePodesta reports directly to Haslam and is untouchable by Dorsey. Like Hue.
Basically they have two GMs with diametrically opposing strategies and a clueless owner.

Oh just wait. Im sure Snyder has been informed of the new forum and whichever one of us is the most compent as a GM, will be his next GM.
Snyder owns extremeskins.com. One of if not the largest fan forums on the net.

Back in 2008 when they were looking for a new coach, one of them was Jim Fassel. Because it was taking time he took fassela recommendation and hired Zorn as the OC. He was turned down by Rex Ryan for the hc job also, when that happened and he caught word the fan base didn’t want Fassel he ended up high Jim Zorn. This was actually Vinnys idea and he lost his job for it. Firing Vinny was the best move Snyder made until he hired Bruce Allen, an extension of Snyder.

yeah it does seem weird although depodesta showed in baseball that he's happy supporting a gm and staying in the background... if dorsey is happy to use depodesta correctly then this might still work but it does seem like its ripe for an implosion - the browns might just get swallowed up by some sinkhole in ohio in a couple of years if this doesnt work out

so 8 of the 2017 playoff teams were not playoff teams in 2016 which means that over half of the league has been in the playoffs over the last 2 years...
