Not getting Brockers done certainly makes the little over week of FA look a little worse, but we're never a team that looks to spend big in FA and quite frankly, we weren't going to improve a lot of our needs in FA.

WR - Poor FA class and great draft class, never was a reason to spend money here
TE - Sucks to lose Hurst but we got a 2nd out of it and can spend a lot less on a 3rd TE
OL - Never going to replace Yanda, and it was a shitty FA class
DL - Obviously the hit now, greatly improved on Campbell but now need a DT
ILB - Downgrade from what we had but clearly they have other plans with how they've attacked that
OLB - No change from last year, still need to upgrade but we weren't throwing that big money around, will get younger

What were the expectations? We spend big money all over the place? For what? We retained a ton of our own and now it's time to continue to get younger. Signing FAs sounds great until you get 2-3 years down the line, realize they aren't really living up to their contract, and then you cut them and are stuck with a bunch of dead money. It's a long-term game, not a short-term game.

Like i said-

We could have tackled this my way

Hargraves- Lawson- Littleton. Pass rush, all rounder with edge setting and a covering linebacker. Young and will get better too.

I'll take that over campbell and Jihad ward and Lard ellis and judon cant set an edge to save his life. Seen the best of these guys

Yes hes good but a team is about strength of UNITS

our Unit strengths are crap.

And you saying this in March .....Really Sami? . The NFl season doesnt start tomorrow and The Ravens have always been good at finding solid defensive linemen. I am not worried at all

Because your way is the right way? Again, look back in 2-3 years and see how many of these guys are back on the market.

Also misses a big point we tried to focus on - versatility up front. Hargrave and Lawson do not give you what we've been trying to attack.

I wouldnt be worried about finding good d linesman if we didn't have so many holes to fill compared to previous years.

How does this FO do this? And we still aint gonna have cap next year

anyway..hopeully eric accomplishes something good this year. Last years draft wasn't particularly good so he cant afford to mess up this one.

Idk I just don't think EDC would let Brockers go if he thought it was going to be a blunder. Especially considering LA signs him immediately. He ethically couldn't have been that hurt. This means EDC did this for a reason. Given what else is on the market, wtf could he be doing it for other than Clowney? Makes me think he's going for Clowney.

They will figured it out like they figured it out last year. Every offseason you say something similar and The Ravens eventually figure it out. Im not worried. They was probably going to draft a defensive linemen anyway in the first round regardless.

If we go after clowney but lose judon in the process, we are back to square one

I don't think this is a grant situation where it was dodgy business ( crabtree became available and then the plug was pulled). I think brockers was his plan and i dont think its because they have a plan in place regarding clowney

however i'd like to be proven wrong here

no

clowney is a much better player..esp in setting the edge
But they play the same position. Who would you move to end?

I dont think The Ravens like Clowney all that much. He is a pretty good player but does he fit The Ravens locker room? Then he also never heathy consistently.

As it stands theres too much pressure on campbell to do it on his own and he wont be able to. He needs quality around him or he'll just be double teamed and as you know our guys can't do shit one on one

Well at this point we've failed then. A signing of derek wolfe and whoever is left on the market is basically a jag

Its disappointing especially without Brockers, that said we're not the only team to run into FA issues with physicals. Also Wolfe is injury prone.

Now before you keep complaining and pining about "what ifs", we don't just have free agency we also have free agency after the draft when a lot of veterans will be available for cheap to help fill remaining holes.

This is how we've always done it and trust me when I say we've been in much worse predraft positions over our history.
