    2026 Offseason Thread

I guess my questions would be: 1. If Lamar's teammates are at OTAs, then what is Lamar actually doing when he's not there? 2. What things can Lamar be doing when he's not at OTAs that would make him a better player instead of attending OTAs? I'm not concerned about what happens outside of OTAs...

2024 Lamar threw it 475x. Flowers and Bateman combined for ~200 targets, so unless one of the rookies plays ahead of Bateman, I'd expect similar. In an offense with that much passing, I'd be putting Bateman around 75-80 targets alone. Those two I'd expect to see upwards of 40-45% total target...

    The Random Thought Thread

Counterpoint... criticizing a prospective employer publicly, for doing nothing other than respectfully telling you they're going to hire somebody else, pretty much puts you in on a one-way street towards either unemployment, or a career change. Especially when the employer you're criticizing is...

Fine with that concept. I'm not an optics person. If I were, I'd ask the question... are my peers, who both individually and definitely as a team, perform better than me, doing things that I'm not doing? Mahomes shows up to voluntary OTAs. So does Josh Allen. They both have super high attendance...

Just to clarify... it's voluntary, but its not "for free". He has the ability to make $750K by showing up to voluntary OTAs.

I mean not really from a depth perspective. Your WR3 and W4, which will probably play a lot more if all goes well, are some combination of Walker, Lane and Sarratt. I wouldn't expect Smythe to take Andrews snaps even with injury, so your reserve TEs are two rookies.

And they've failed to do that every single year also. The NFLPA will gleefully file grievances for healthy players landing on IR to redshirt. Has happened plenty of times before also. If they have a legit short term injury, sure, they'll stash them. But every year players leave for this very reason.

So yeah that's not how rosters work. Every team in the league loses drafted players every year at roster cutdowns while trying to "sneak them through to the PS". Happens to the Ravens every year. Injuries are about the only way to redshirt somebody without exposing them to other teams...

Sure, but its a double edged sword. If the idea is you just throw these guys out there and play, and you lose games because of it, is that acceptable? If I'm a team that's not looking to win this year, that's precisely what I'd do. Teams that are actively competing for a Lombardi, generally...

Wouldn't be so sure. Vet WR market isn't any good right now, so I'm not sure which one of those WRs you think is not going to make the team, given the depth chart. I also wouldn't expect guys drafted in the 3rd or 4th round to clear waivers, so if they're not making the 53, they'll likely end up...

It'll test the dedication to rookie draft pick concept. If they sign Njoku, gotta imagine he's getting some guarantees to play this year. Which means one of the two TEs you drafted isn't making the 53 man, and I'm not sure they'd be able to sneak the cut through waivers either.

I did. Thought he was maybe a little "off the radar" from what fans were expecting that year, but he was pretty prototypical of what Deen Pees wanted as a Corner.

Hurst and Queen were two picks I simply didn't understand (in the Lamar era).

    1. Who told you that it tracks with every trade for the past 30 years? Is there any documentation that actually supports that? You do realize that there's no less than a half dozen trade value charts out there that "fans" reference, and every single one is different. Draftek has one. Walter...

    1. An overpay based on what? An arbitrary trade value chart? Not only could it simply not be an overpay at all, but a) the objective of the team you're trading with is to make you overpay and b) it's entirely possible that based on what actually happens in drafts, it's an underpay, not an...

    1. Where are the Ravens getting another third round pick from? If you're getting a third back in a move up, it's costing you next years 1st, not pick 45. 31 NFL teams are saying no thank you to some offer involving giving up 45 and getting like pick 80 back. Horrendous deal for the acquiring...

So ironically, you kind of made my point for me... 1. If iOL today is a weakness, and you have to give up a 2nd round pick to gain an advantage in another position, then the number or scenarios where it's still not a weakness, at the end of the draft, are high. Basically it means you need to...

I wouldn't expect them to be in on ILB, CB or Safety in the draft until day 3. Safety probably wouldn't be on my draft board at all and I'd be disappointed with anything beyond like a 6th or 7th rounder at ILB.

lol yeah I got like 3-4x as many holes as you do. 1. You have multiple needs at iOL, because you have no confidence in any C on the the roster and you at minimum need depth at Guard. 2. The TE room is closer to bottom of the league than anything. Need at least one of those, possibly two. 3...
