    The 2024 Offseason Thread

Well, you're basically looking for depth then. In a healthy game, Stephens, Marlon, Hamilton and Williams are playing near or @ 100% of the snaps. They're not coming off the field. So whoever the 5th or 6th DB is will be rotational, with Maulet first in line. Pepe and JAD are also on the roster...

I mean he's basically a rotational player on most teams, coming off a significant injury that cost him almost two full seasons. He's not getting more than a one year deal from anybody, and I'm not sure it'll be for much more than the veteran minimum.

Given what he actually did, I'm fine with it. Betting on your own team to lose will get that done for you everytime.

Because they haven't had a good QB in several decades.

I believe it looks like this. From cap perspective, Bills on the hook for: 3/5th of $21.5M signing bonus paid in 2022 (pro-rated for 5 years) = $12.9M 4/5th of $16M roster bonus paid in 2023 (pro-rated for 5 years) = $12.8M 4/5th of restructured signing bonus paid in 2023 (converted $6.75M of...

I'll be the one that says it... dude has the view of a locker room cancer. Not only did they trade him for what isn't a huge return, but it provides virtually no salary cap relief. And from what I'm reading from McFarland, it actually costs them more cap in short term to get rid of him than it...

Well, acknowledging that he hasn't been arrested or charged with anything, the raid revolved around allegations of sex trafficking, and illegal weapon and drug distribution.

Coulda been worse though. Pilots saved lives. Called in a mayday and they were able to shut down bridge traffic beforehand. 6 deaths or whatever it'll end up being is a lot, obviously, but for this type of accident, that's actually pretty small in the grand scheme of things. If this happened in...

    The Random Thought Thread

I agree. Just saying I don't see teams giving up day 2 picks for our backups. I look at what better receivers are getting traded for now, and I think trading Likely is like a 5th or 6th round pick level move. Which is why it won't happen.

    The Random Thought Thread

Well a) if the Ravens could trade him for a day 2 pick, they'd do it in a second. The problem is nobody will offer that and b) it really doesn't matter how long Likely is willing to be a reserve TE. He's got two years left on his rookie deal. He can be a FA after and be the #1 TE for somebody...

Agholor + likely a mid-round draft pick. Maybe another veteran. Two TE looks could be more prevalent also.

    Signings, Cuts, Trades

Maybe. But if Pepe wasn't on IR, he'd have probably played that role instead.

I'm referring to last year. I don't think Darby is a Raven last year if Pepe was healthy.
  16. rmcjacket23

    Signings, Cuts, Trades

Well injuries are a factor in why they haven't been playing in some cases. If everybody is healthy, they're not going to see tremendous playing time anyway, because guys like Marlon and Stephens are every-snap players. Basically your entire four-man secondary is. I'm not sure that Darby is a...

    Signings, Cuts, Trades

Hamilton is a movable piece, but that doesn't mean you need two safety looks on every down either. In a 4 WR set, your safeties are playing coverage a lot. Especially if we continue to play more Zone. Your 3rd or 4th outside corner is likely already on the roster, and if we add one, I wouldn't...
  18. rmcjacket23

    Signings, Cuts, Trades

Or both. You're going to carry 5-6 WRs on the roster. Zay, Bateman, Agholor, Wallace. You need at least 1-2 more. And Wallace will likely act as almost exclusively a kick returner and ST player. And that's assuming they're all healthy enough to play. A lot of our roster holes are going to be...
  19. rmcjacket23

    Signings, Cuts, Trades

So a) no, I don't think you're getting a starting Safety for $3M, nor do I see the need to add a starting Safety. I see the need to add depth at Safety, and that's assuming that Washington isn't their plan there. And b) $3M is pretty close to double the veteran minimum, so it'll be pretty hard...

    Signings, Cuts, Trades

Signing Gallup changes nothing about whatever our draft strategy is for WRs, i.e. it wouldn't stop us from taking one in the first round if the opportunity presented itself, nor would it stop us from taking somebody on day 2 or day 3. Gallup would basically be what Agholor was last year. And...
