This aversion to drafting DL feels very 2014 at WR, where there were tons of good options and we waited until the 7th and got the legend known as Michael Campanaro.

I will say though, I know they have a vet or 2 in mind, but it really felt like an opportunity to get younger.
Its just undeniable that they've consistently opted out at every level of the draft. Maybe they'll take someone here at the end of the 6th.

i can't believe we didn't have more interest in Josh Farmer or Jordan Phillips...
felt like great developmental options to add to the DL room

My only concern when you grab the guy who’s a #2 to an elite talent is how much did that help him to boost his stock artificially

I'm with you. Emery Jones feels like the pick that hurts the most right now, especially with the benefit of hindsight knowing we got Vinson later. I don't hate Jones by any means but it feels like we just could have done better there.

So, has anyone done scouting for kickers at all?

I'm not even going to attempt to spell the New England kicker's name, but it sounds like he might be the most consistent with his approach and drive through the ball, but he lacks some leg strength.

Fitzgerald was generally well thought of, but he was inconsistent from 40+ in his career until 2024, nailing 5-5 on 50+. Doesn't seem to have ideal leg strength on field goals or kick offs, though.

With Loop, it seems like he can be a bit inconsistent, but he's also got by far the most leg strength to him.

Is the leg strength something that is more desirable when talking about the kickers? Would you not rather have a guy who is money from within 50 and try to limit the long field goals? Or is there something in Loop's game that looks fixable? Because in the highlights, it seems like he'll pull to the left, so maybe there's something there that can be fixed?
also college kicking is very different with the hashes being so far apart.

regarding him pulling it a bit, maybe timing the snap could help with that and that is something we emphasize a lot from snap to hold to kick.

@Simba I'm totally blanking. Who's the DL that's been bouncing around our PS and I think active roster very briefly for a few years now? Think he got poached last year so we didn't have him at all.

Got a pick then the Cards and then we’re right back up so this could either be good for the team or we could just sit back and make s’mores with the Joey meltdown

I think that's what he means.

2014 was a STACKED WR class and they didn't get one until round seven when they could have easily gotten a high end contributor in the second or third round.
I mean we didn’t wait for a DL either, we got Mike Green.

Unless y’all mean interior guys but I’m not as concerned about that myself

Yeah interior guys. I think we have a solid duo in Mads and Jones, but then all we have left is an underperforming since getting the contract Broddy, and a collection of UDFAs. We need solid depth there.
