Just dropping a note after reading some of the reaction to your drafting of Mike Green. I’ve been a Marshall season ticket holder for over 20 years and have watched a lot of players over the years, so just some first hand background.
As to his history, he had a sexual harassment complaint at Virginia his freshman year and was dismissed. No charges were ever brought after an investigation. He came to Marshall and was a model citizen here for three years. I would suggest you take some time to watch his many interviews available on YouTube, polite, well spoken and focused.
As far as his abilities - he has elite bend and speed, but his success comes from his work ethic and film study. I spoke with him about it and it was a great conversation. He could discuss every tackle and TE he played and tell you their strengths, weaknesses and tendencies. That’s common for NFL guys, but not for college guys that can get by on superior talent. He gameplanned his rush moves based on study, had a different plan for every opponent. That just shows a level of involvement in his own success that appeals to NFL coaches.
Keep an open mind with Mike. He won’t do anything to embarrass your organization. You have another Marshall guy in Rasheen Ali, heck of a back, but fragile. I think the last guy you had from is before him was Albert McClellan, who was a really good ST player and captain for you guys for about a decade. Green is about twice the talent as Albert, they played the same position at Marshall. Vinny Curry was another Marshall DE taken by the Eagles at #59 back in 2012. Green is a better player than Curry.
I won’t be surprised is Green is a starting OLB for you in the 2026 season. He was a solid pick.
