The Forty, the Fumble, and the Fucking Déjà Vu

Agreed. I don’t want to make excuses by any means. He should have been better if his past is any indication. But also on them for realizing that he wasn’t it tonight and still running him out there. Can’t always just rely on past pedigree when the poor results are right in front of your face.

He just simply looked flat all night and I’m hoping it’s a case of not being quite ready vs. a case of damages goods.
The ptsd is coming back

Good points all around. I think we're just conditioned to see the name on the jersey and have an expectation despite the clear difference in their current state. Which is unfair to the player. Definitely too soon to jump ship on him. Maybe the slow down of the hype train does him and the unit good in the long run.

It’s a minor one on paper but I think the missed PAT is much bigger deal than most realize… not because of the miss but because I don’t think we should have been kicking at all. A 15 point vs. 16 point decision wasn’t going to be a significant difference as it’s a 2 possession deficit either way. Go for 2 and try to make it a 3 possession deficit.

I honestly never even considered that, but now that you've said, it seems like it could've been the best strategy. Great shout.

I've long been on the fence about Lamar. He's clearly a coach that always gives you a chance and keeps the team competitive, but is he going to be the one to elevate and take the team to the next level? It's becoming tough to believe that'll be the case.

It's just absolutely amazing that the Ravens have arguably the best QB, RB, and S in the NFL with a top 10 CB and a strong and deep roster elsewhere, but can't get it done.

I've also been critical of EDC and his development of the roster. The allocation of resources has not paid off and the team has really fallen short in the areas that really matter as the team tries to go left while the rest of the league goes right (poor guard play, likely looking at Linderbaum leaving, poor pass rush.)
Explanation, please.

EDC needs to watch the lions-packers game to see how important the interior o-line is and pay Linderbaum, otherwise this team is going to be ass next season

Did we play any kind of man cvg? Seems like i only noticed zone all game.. man i knew once we lost macdonald shit was gonna get tough for us smh. Its still early but got dam nothing changed since last season

Also, Jaire Alexander did not look terrific tonight. Even the stop he had at the end, would've been preferable to just let them score at that point.
We replaced Brandon Stephens with Jaire.... how wonderful.

It’s hard to know for sure because of the reporting structure (aka Harbs directly to Bisciotti), but the vibe I got from my guy is that this finally may be the year where the continued and unmatched skill set of beating ourselves may be Harbaugh’s undoing. The internal and even external feeling is that we have an extremely good roster and it’s put up or shut up time. I don’t get the sense that it’s a Super Bowl or bust type of thing, but it does sound like there is little patience left after seeing the same thing over and over, and this first game is certainly going to factor. They won’t be rash but they’re at the stage where simply being a contender that continues to fall out of the running on their own accord year after year isn’t going to cut it.

Also, defense not performing up to expectations aside...

Tyler Loop's missed extra point loomed large. Would the Ravens have a realistic shot in overtime? I don't know. They were looking really flat to end the game. Still, as Simba pointed out- why not go for two? 15 vs 17 is bigger than 15 vs 16 from the standpoint of two touchdowns plus two 2-pt conversions vs needing two touchdowns and a field goal to tie.

The missed turnovers are so frustrating. The Awuzie interception was extremely close and I can't fault it too much, but the Starks dropped interception just cannot happen. Both drives ended in touchdowns. If either drive ends with an interception instead, I don't think the Bills win.

It's especially frustrating that the Ravens keep missing these opportunities with turnovers because of the luck from the Bills. The touchdown to Keon Coleman on fourth down should not have happened. The one second on the clock before halftime. I'm sure there are plenty more examples, but the Ravens need to start capitalizing on their lucky situations because other teams are doing exactly that and it's making the difference.

The tackling was appalling tonight. How many stops turned into first downs because the Bills fought through tackles for extra yardage? Cris Collingsworth couldn't stop sucking off Allen for the James Cook dump off turned near touchdown, but the Ravens had that dead for no gain and then dead for a two or three yard gain. That was a 3rd and 6th and it's very likely a punt from the Bills. Instead, poor tackling takes it to the 2.

The guard play is still absolute ass and it looks like Linerbaum probably leaves because EDC has allocated too much cap to the defense. I really hope and pray he has a plan for the offensive line because it is terrifying to think of what the OL could look like next year without Linderbaum.

I mean...... there were reports of Harbaugh being fired in 2018 if we missed the playoffs. Missing the playoffs in 2018 would have been 4 straight years of no playoffs. Then Flacco got hurt, Lamar came in and changed everything. Maybe CJ Mosley should have not caught that interception in finale against Cleveland in 2018 after all.

I just don't know where the Ravens will get the necessary cap space given how much they've allocated to the defense.
I don't know, that's for EDC to figure out. What I do know is that a bad o-line can and will tank a team and if I'm being honest Linderbaum and Stanley are the only two linemen that are worth a damn on our team
