The Shutout, the Running Game, and the Injuries

The Steelers losing TJ Watt with the collapsed lung during therapy last week was also a big loss. A lot of teams are losing key players going into the playoffs and could still be more big names the next two weeks before teams start resting their starters. Unless the Steelers or Ravens collapse and one team has a chance to rest their starters, that is a brutal matchup to close out the regular season and it does not help that we will be on the road.

We seem to do better on the road

Doesn't really matter. SB year we were 1-4 in December. Week to week league.

I've never seen a team go deep in the playoffs that didn't click on all cylinders at some point in the season. Most ride in hot, others might have played well for a few months, get hurt and then get healthy again for playoffs. But this team hasn't clicked all year, so they have to do it now.

No excuses, we need to get a similar revenge on them as we just got on the bengals. Now I’m even more mad about the refs

coaching staff obvously like David Ojabo. I thought he would have a break out year this year but he likely had his best game of year against the bengals as a pass rusher and as a special teamer as well which isn't typically something he's known for.

He hit a spin move that felt like what I watched on the college tape way back when. Haven’t seen anything like that in his Ravens tenure until yesterday.

This win was awesome. I loved it and love that I can enjoy tomorrow night and all day next Sunday stress free now. We also realistically just need to go 1-1 the next 2 as well, so those games aren’t do or die
I figured this would be one of your favorite wins against them in the Lamar era.

I didn't get a chance to see it but maybe he just needs to get comfortable or something. It's obvious something he's showing in practice that the coaching staff like

i'm not saying i see the future based off 1 rep

but i really liked Carson Vinson coming out and i really liked the 2 or 3 reps he had against the Bengals - obviously true pass sets are where you live or die in the NFL but you can see the pathway to him being a major plus in the run game

Emery Jones gets the knockdown on this play but if he doesnt run him into his own guy, he gets called for a hold on that play - he lets the defender rip across him

also another reason why when these guys post random OL clips to point at, you should not just parrot what they say - because this is what you get - they see the bengals defender on the floor with Jones engaged and go awesome give me more - but he lost that rep and got lucky

vinson's the guy to get excited about based on these short clips

That’s a major reach. That was a good rep and you can’t fault him for playing well in the space the field allotted, and the crossface happened at an inconsequential point in the play, and to assume he would hold there is just speculation.

Almost feels like you’re fishing for reasons as to why our physically and mentally handicapped guard tandem should keep their jobs.

It's small sample size of course, but I think you can at least see the upside with Emery Jones. Unfortunately, you can also see that he's a rookie with still limited practice time. It's nothing against him. I think if this were early in the season or we had a commanding division lead, you might see him getting more run. But with us in the thick of it, it's hard to put a guy out there that just looks so (expectedly) fresh. I think he'll be given all of the room in the world to win that job next year though, and also would be somewhat disappointed if he didn't. The lateral movement skills and overall fluidity are impressive and it's a big reason why I thought he'd slide inside.
