2026 EDGE Thread

for me the top 3 pass rushers easily are:

Reuben Bain Jr
David Bailey
Akheem Mesidor

and i think the tape says all 3 of those guys are worthy of high picks -
Mesidor's age and injury history might drop him to late R1 or even day 2 but he's a high-end prospect otherwise
Bain's got short arms that some people (and maybe some teams) are going to overthink/panic about

but those guys are awesome
Admittedly, I haven’t watched a lot of players yet, but I like your take on Mesidor. Not sure he will ever be that flashy “sack champ” in a season kind of guy, but he is just a solid football player. I wonder if 14 is too high for him, but I love his versatility. He lined up left side, right side and everything in between. He appears disciplined and plays with a high motor. Older prospects do get knocked down a bit though. There is a somewhat of a correlation between dominating college ball at a young age and that translating to the pros. “Breakout age” is a term I’ve heard a few times, but no denying this guy is a ball player.

David bailey gonna go crazy at combine.. can forget about him dropping outside top 5, let alone to 14.. just stop thinking about him yall and mark him as not available

He is definitely the top edge pass rusher. We have no shot at him. Bain is someone I think could make it to us if people hate his measurements.

completely disagree on the skillset
i think he looks like a guy who could be a productive sack guy early in his career

downside for him is the injuries (part of the reason he's an older prospect) and the fact that he's probably pretty close to his ceiling given his age

14 might be too rich given the age factor but if we were just grading the tape he'd be a slam dunk as a top 15 pick - but later in the 1st i think the value of the play becomes more important than the fact he might be 30 for his 2nd contract

Yeah, I just see him as more of a 10-12 sack a year guy than maybe 17-20 or so which is what I was thinking when saying “sack champ” numbers

most 10-12 sack per year guys are the same guys who get 17-20 - you need luck and circumstances to help you go nuclear in a season like that

if you're consistently hitting 12+ sacks per year, you're a potential future HOFer type guy
for context Garrett's only had 17+ sacks in a season one time, this season...

Fair point, however, 6 years out of 9 in his career over that 10-12 range which is flat out dominant and I just dont think I see that in his game. But, what do I know

I’m so sold on him, idk how consensus seems to have him as a day 2. Measurables probably won’t be great but goddamn that dude can beat an OT and bring the qb down.
He’s pretty good. I was watching him and came away pretty impressed. His inside moves aren’t as good as his outside but his speed and bend is amazing for someone like him. I also saw some good edge setting run defense too and pursuit.

Brugler has him at 35 so it's not far removed from round 1. Also I saw a tweet mentionning some injury history so that may explain it as well.

i like the way he plays through contact while bending the edge
that's the kind of high-side bend that translates in the NFL

Yeah he’s got athletic traits you love to see in pass rushers but he also has that relentless motor you see in guys who are missing in athleticism.

yeah ankle injuries in 2022, a "significant" quad injury in 2025 albeit he was able to come back for the playoffs (although definitely seemed like he was on a pitch count)

Is there something wrong with cashius howell? He looks like a good pass rusher

he's electric

but he's undersized, really short arms, weird stance on the LoS and gets swallowed up in the run game

nothing wrong with him per se but projecting him to play 3 downs in the NFL right now is a bit difficult and hard to justify a 1st round pick on a guy who might be just a DPR in the NFL

He looked small but i just checked his measurables and got dam he really is undersized with short arms.
