Coaching Carousel 2026

ok but he also runs a basic college-style offence

forget the word development... it's a backstep in terms of offensive upside and advancing the offence schematically
kingsbury would be a limiter on lamar's prime
Their DL picks have mostly underwhelmed. I have a very close Bills fan friend. He hates Beane and a lot of the defensive picks. Rousseau is meh. Not bad, better than Oweh, but not by yards.

normally i'd expect the ravens to have had some rep here on the coaching staffs
but obviously, we don't have a coaching staff right now lol

Not that this is a disingenuous interview by any means because he is a candidate still, but also satisfies the Rooney Rule and there's a reason they're getting that out of the way quickly...

Yeah, with Buffalo in the mix, if you have a guy you like, you will have to pounce quickly. Weaver is also interviewing with PIT, too.

He speaks very well. Seems like he would be a good HC. I just think he is missing something here. I think he would do well on a team like the Bills.

I thought we did that when we interviewed Mike McDaniel? Or do you have to interview them more than once now? I'd wonder if Steve would wait on Kubiak even if it meant waiting until after The Super Bowl. If they want someone young who can relate to the players, Mike McDaniel seems to be the guy they are looking for, who is also a X's and O's type of coach.

You need 2. McDaniel was one.

On Kubiak specifically, apparently Mike Mac gave him a glowing review, and it's not too dissimilar from the guy Mike Mac is himself. Kubiak isn't some outwardly enthusiastic leader, but he's got a quiet command of his unit and they all know what their responsibilities are.

Please Mike Mac…keep whispering those sweet nothings into Stevie B’s ear.

Maybe it’s ill founded but this would feel like Orr 2.0, only HC version. I remember seeing dolphins players said no one understood their assignments all season on defense.

If he were to be hired, I have strong doubts that he'd be running the defense

Worst part was feedback from former Dolphins (i.e., DeShon Elliott) who left and criticized the defense and called the team "soft".

Not saying McDaniel is not going to get a 2nd interview, but all of the rumors seem to indicate he's probably going to end up as an OC somewhere.
I think for McDaniel, he could get a HC job or definitely an OC job. I still maintain I like him best as an OC. I'd love the guy here as our OC. Just no idea who the HC would even be in that case. Would McDaniel work for a guy like Webb or Kubiak (assuming Kubiak even brings him here)? Eh.

I can see McDaniel get HC, too. Just feels like he needs time to cool off from being a HC unless it's a bad team like the Raiders, Browns, Titans.

We're not holding you to anything lol but seems like you think it's gonna be Minter, Kubiak, or Webb.

I like Minter.
I'd be ok with Kubiak but dont feel like that's a slam dunk by any means.
I'd be very nervous about Webb.

So what is it really supposedly down to Minter, Kubiak, MxDaniel, and Webb?
IMHO (which doesn't count for much) but Minter is my top defensive candidate by far.

After him, it's Kubiak, McDaniel, Webb. Scheelhaus is there but I see him as more risk than Webb.

Nobody else does it for me from the list of people I've heard. Each of those names has some risk, as well.

Absolute shit year for needing a coach

Well, it's only shit because there isn't an obvious candidate but that doesn't make it bad. I suspect if Webb had a year of OC experience, you'd feel a lot better about him. Same with Kubiak, who if he had some consistent success it would be a better endorsement. And McDaniel, who just got fired for not succeeding despite being an offensive genius (like Webb but McDaniel had more success). Then you have Minter, whose team got beat by that awful Texans Offense and a broken CJ Stroud.

But sometimes waiting has its issues. Sometimes you have to take a risk and gamble and it works out. McVay was young when he became HC, although he had at least 2 years experience as OC and a lot of history at the same org for years before that. Macdonald is similar, only 2 years before he exploded.

I think we can get a great coach here. Steve is a personnel guy and he is picking the coach at the end of the day, even if he says he wants Eric to do it.

I’ll even caveat with Webb that it wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t get a 2nd interview if they decide he’s not ready. They really like him but doesn’t mean they’re viewing him as a fit.

I do expect Minter and Kubiak though barring anything unforeseen
