Ravens Ring of Honor
Darnold sucks, it will show in the end. If there was a way to bet against Seattle going I’d bet my life savings on itWith the way things are looking MacDonald might buck that trend this year.

In this year it could definitely happen.Darnold sucks, it will show in the end. If there was a way to bet against Seattle going I’d bet my life savings on it
That’s certainly the risk with going with an offensive coordinator as a HC. They have a high bust rate. I think the reason for that is you’re always chasing the hot teen and those don’t always stick or work when you change personnel and teams don’t have the patience or collaboration between HC & GM to make it workI think the biggest reason you lean an offensive guy is because it gives you that long line of a similar system, assuming it works of course. OCs are usually the ones that either cant hack it and get replaced, or are too good to not get a HC job. Not many of those guys are in the OC role for long periods nowadays.
But with that being said, if we end up in the market, just give me the best guy for the job. Harbaugh may be on the hot seat now but it’s hard to argue he wasn’t the right choice when we hired him. He’s done some great things here even if it feels like it’s time.
There’s a risk with any candidate to be honest. Sometimes the hot names don’t work out. And sometimes the unsexy option (a la Harbaugh) is the best option. That’s certainly the risk with going with an offensive coordinator as a HC. They have a high bust rate. The one who have success like Reid, McVay, Shanahans, etc have a system they create and they get guys for that system. The real question is what system bet maximises Lamar’s skills.
I just think this year there is no obvious “clear cut #1 HC candidate”. The crop isn’t what it was last year. I personally hate Vrabel but I knew he’d do very well in NE. He is a good leader and HC whose teams always play very hard. There’s a risk with any candidate to be honest. Sometimes the hot names don’t work out. Shit, look at Vrabel in New England. He’s a good coach that never should have been on the market in the first place. Hes not an offensive guy but that unit is humming up there. Hes a damn good and smart leader.
If all things are equal, give me an offensive guy over the alternative. If one guy is the clear and away best, I want that guy regardless of where his expertise lies.
I’m not too worried about who is and isn’t available because I don’t expect us to go with the hot name anyways. Just isn’t a Ravens type of move.I just think this year there is no obvious “clear cut #1 HC candidate”. The crop isn’t what it was last year. But yes of course give us the best guy for the job, whether they coach Offense, Defense, special teams or if they’re the water boy and somehow are elite at football lol
I mean, we wanted Garrett until he gave us the birdI’m not too worried about who is and isn’t available because I don’t expect us to go with the hot name anyways. Just isn’t a Ravens type of move.
And that worked out thoughI mean, we wanted Garrett until he gave us the bird
Yeah but the point remains we did want a top coach and all, it only worked out because he didn’t us. I’m disagreeing that going after a big name wouldn’t be a “Ravens move”.And that worked out though
I guess. Just been a team that zigs while everyone else zags in recent years, for better or worse.Yeah but the point remains we did want a top coach and all, it only worked out because he didn’t us. I’m disagreeing that going after a big name wouldn’t be a “Ravens move”.
he's a good coach and the McDaniels isn't likely to get another opportunity. He's proven twice that he can coach an offense, but not a team. There’s a risk with any candidate to be honest. Sometimes the hot names don’t work out. And sometimes the unsexy option (a la Harbaugh) is the best option.

Pass. What do you guys think of Jim Schwartz? He's a Baltimore native who could come home and coach for his hometown team. He's on his way to another Head Coaching gig, we talk a lot about Brian Flores or Jesse Minter but Schwartz could be a underrated hire for us that people don't talk about enough.

. Mike Green is an ideal fit for that wide 9. I dunno man, "Shorts" has a way of wearing thin pretty quick.Darnold sucks, it will show in the end. If there was a way to bet against Seattle going I’d bet my life savings on it
They havent been as good at home for some reason though. With HFA and that defense not like they need much from him. They're not afraid of the Rams and that would be a tough spot for Bears or Eagles.
Darnold does suck lol! I want sea to make it, they have a chance but at the same time….. darnoldDarnold sucks, it will show in the end. If there was a way to bet against Seattle going I’d bet my life savings on it
Prototype example of "great Coordinator that I'd love to coach my defense, but a total fucking trainwreck as a HC". I don't think he'll be getting another HC gig. What do you guys think of Jim Schwartz?
