Coaching Carousel 2026

The thing about hiring Minter.. is who’s coming with him to be his staff? I doubt Jim Harbaugh is going to let him take staff to Baltimore to replace his brother.

Does he have connects like someone within Kubiak/LaFleur/Shanahan clique? That clique be pumping out HCs like it’s nothing.
If Jim doesn’t then that’s a dick move. John never blocked guys from getting promotions and I doubt Jim would as well.

I'm sure Harbaugh talked about Orr with Biscotti but you are not hearing much about this .

It's all about Monken right now.

Do you think they were planning on keeping Orrr or did Biscotti and Harbs both agree that Orr would be terminated but the sticking point was Harbs wanted Monken to continue?

i mean that's just not how it went at all
by 2021, Lamar's passing mechanics were basically the same as they are now - and most of that work was done in the offseason with his personal throwing coach Adam DeDeaux who was even invited into Ravens training camp in 2022

that's nothing to do with Monken (or Roman)

any regression in lamar's throwing mechanics this year, have quite clearly been related to lower body injuries (hence why he looked completely back to normal by the end of the year)

Even in 2021 his throwing mechanics start off hot and got cold as the season went on even though he only played in 12 games that year. Lamar throwing mechanics didn't stay consistently solid until Monken arrived. I don't remember looking at 2021 thinking Lamar throwing mechanics looking the same when I compare how well he passed the ball in 2023 . I don't doubt Lamars regression was due to injuries but at the same time you can tell he didn't trust the offensive line at times and for obvious reasons

Can't stop someone if it's a promotion.

Alot of coaches network and build relationships with other coaches. This is typically important for those that have aspirations of being a head coach . Mike MacDonald didn't really take a lot of ravens coaches with him and looked how he built his staff. Coaches aren't limited to who they worked with in the past in regards to how they build their staff and alot of times coaches be fans of other coaches which also helps with the hiring process .

Harbaugh mostly hired people he knew or people connected to those he knows.

I don’t think that’s necessarily the norm but knowing who knows who is kinda hard since these guys likely speak frequently and we never hear about it

The latter part is so true. These guys have connections we’ll never understand. If there’s a guy that is a HC candidate, you can best believe he’s had an idea of some of his guys for years. And organizations scout coaches much as they do players. Obviously not near as intensive or public, but they have a list ready for when they have a need.

if it's lateral moves then they can block it
it's a real dick move to try and block guys going for promotions

idk i think his 2021 throwing mechanics look very similar to 2023 and 2024 and the end of 2025 (+ the bills game)

only difference is the results not the actual mechanics

Yeah. I know the NFL made changes preventing teams from blocking people from moving up to coordinator and head coach, but the issue I assume people are speaking to is something like some guy who is pass game specialist or some crap and hiring them as WR coach. I think it would be a dick move to block that as it's a pseudo-promo even if it's not a coordinator.

I don't think good teams will block those.

also when guys become HC candidates, they start building connections (beyond the ones they already have) to have an idea of who they might bring along on staff or work with

i think technically the NFL considers that a promotion but im not sure
either way, if the role is functionally different, it's generally allowed for those guys to move

the constant "we'll have to go back to the tape and see what happened" is great for deflecting

but after a while, it makes it seem like you have no idea what's going on in the moment, which indirectly suggests that you have no ability to analyse, adapt and adjust in-game

which is obviously not true - and makes the PR deflection answer more frustrating

Should he not garner promotion interest elsewhere, one name I've heard that they'd like to stick around is Tee Martin. He and Lamar have a great relationship and they'll be pitching him as a holdover for whoever the new HC is. They won't block him if he gets interest elsewhere though.

Feel like Tee is a good voice for Lamar so happy to keep him around.

Just get Warhop out of here

I doubt he gets a OC gig anywhere. He’ll have a job here for however long Lamar stays (if the new HC is cool with it). Sounds cake.

I would be surprised if there are some that block moves. I mean who would want to breed that sort of animosity within your coaching team….OK, maybe the Browns. lol
