Coaching Carousel 2026

I don't know. Him saying he was mad about the stuff he was hearing about Harbaugh's faults and saying he was mad about it because he was a friend ,but then firing him for many of those same reasons sounded disingenuous to me.
Nothing could be farther from the truth.

I love just hearing and seeing Bisciotti’s brain work. He’s so candid. Not rehearsed at all.
He’s the kind of guy you want as a boss, what you see is what you get. No bullshit, a guy that’s makes it easy to accept criticism from because you know it’s truthful and not malicious.

best thing about tomlin stepping down now is that the steelers dont even get to be the most attractive landing spot which would be unheard of lol

only spot that might be more attractive (that could potentially come open) is the Packers job - good roster, good QB, no owner, lots of organisational patience, historic franchise

They have no QB , an aging D and no weapons like Henry.

I mean, depends how you look at it. He was up front that Harbaugh was culpable for some things, but he had a whole tangent about how some of the best players fucked up in the moments that mattered most. There's a loose connection to coaching there, but Harbaugh has taken the weight of that,

He wasn't absolving Harbaugh, but also wasn't putting the entire onus on him either.

also brought up if you changing both of the assistants now, then it's a good time. Not worth having Harbaugh build up a new staff. I'm paraphrasing.

If Decosta doesn't nail this head coaching pick which Biscotti said is all on him , his days will be numbered.

We can't afford to waste many more years of Lamar's exceptional talent.

Will also say that I found it somewhat surprising but also not that Bisciotti has had his mind made up for weeks... kind of. Sounded a little contradictory, but reading between the lines, it seems like Harbaugh had a number of opportunities to "save himself" that he just didn't capitalize on individually or as a team. The fact that Bisciotti waited until after they met to pull the plug showed that he was still waffling come Tuesday, even though he said he decided on Monday. Think he approached it with conviction but also wanted to make sure it was the right choice before it was too late to take it back.

That made a lot of sense. Bisciotti wanted change. Harbaugh did not. If Steve was just going to flex his muscle and say he wanted change below Harbaugh, why not just let someone else come in and rebuild the thing?

exactly. I remember when Marty Schottenheimer was fired after a 14-2 season, with the Chargers, and he lost the coordinators. Originally they were going to keep him and allow him to rebuild the staff, but then they thought about it and decided to hire a new coach.

beyond just him keeping the steelers competitive for years with consistently over-achieving rosters...
this is the other reason i hope we see Tomlin on TV post-steelers, i think he's a really intelligent, articulate, and charismatic communicator and it really annoys me that he's the steelers coach because i like him a lot
Yeah I think I hated him back in the day just because he was the man

lamar being invited to be a big part of the final interviews
basically being invited to be a partner in that process - but got to be in it 100% so not just dropping in and out, full schedule etc.
And he better fucking do it.

If they are giving him this opportunity, and he doesn’t take advantage to the fullest extent, then he’s not serious enough about winning a Super Bowl and I’d start questioning his character.

Not to say I think he’ll piss away this opportunity to be involved in the hiring, just saying I REALLY hope he’s all in on this process as much as possible.
