Coaching Carousel 2026

Could ve wrong but would think we have a new coach next week. Round 1 is done Sunday. Dont see why they would need more than a few days to talk to 5 guys one more time.

i wonder if they're going to do the same thing that the ravens have done and interview a ton of candidates

also notable that the only 2 franchises that have given him an interview are two of the strongest/most stable organisations
I think it's a situation where if things go right they could go very well and bad very poorly. Confident franchises willing to bet the existing culture will guide them in - others want culture built ground up

I can't imagine what the giants would have given us for harbs if they are letting him reportedly pick his price and his staff price. I know we let him do his process - but wish we could have just said hey who do you want to trade with and gotten some firsts out of this

I been saying NYG the whole time. It’s the best fit for John. You have your pieces but need to fill out the roster. He’s not afraid of the Eagles.

Confirmed by Schefter..... damn they didn't even let him leave to get interviewed by the Titans or Falcons. Damn, if they wanted him this bad we could have traded him to them sooner!

I don’t think that was ever happening, even though we could have done it and gotten some picks. Steve and John still like each other. If you force a team to trade for John, you increase the complexity of him finding a new team. You add a barrier to that process. You complicate it and thereby may reduce his chances and success. Obviously wherever you trade him will also have less picks.

It’s classier to just let him go and find his new spot without being apart of it.

It seems to me that Harbaugh's firing caught them off guard, and they asked to interview names they saw on Twitter or forums.
I don't think it's a good list of candidates; I think there was little research, little ingenuity.
Saleh lost the locker room with the Jets, and his offensive coordinators were awful. Flores lost the locker room, and the players hate him. Schwarz might be a good coordinator, but little else. Nagy was a disaster with the Bears, even though he could have chosen the QB. Brady's offense doesn't impress me at all. Stefansky couldn't manage a locker room with Odell and Baker. Joseph was a loser with the Broncos. Weaver doesn't tell you anything; his unit is nothing special. McDaniel had a good team, but they were always pretty easy to play against us.
I like Kubiak and Minter; he'd be good with Scheelhase, Shula, or Webb.
I don't like the rest; they don't seem like an improvement or a change from Harbaugh. We need fresh blood, new ideas.

Like Biscotti said one failed stint at HC shouldn't disqualify them. Measure the circumstances they were in bad rosters, bad coordinators, bad Qbs etc...and you know that losing always causes locker room issues. Most of those issues are exaggerated or overblown by media.

That's why part of the decision will also be what coordinators are they bringing with them. Saleh produces good Defenses so I wonder what OC he would vouch for.

I mean I’m not sure you can say it’s not a good list of candidates when they are interviewing basically everyone available. Per the athletic may even be some names that haven’t come out yet.

I don’t want Nagy or Joseph to be our HC but you really don’t lose anything by bringing them in to talk to them. They are experienced heads in the game who I’m sure will give some food for thought for those in charge of making the appointment, whether it be good or bad.

Cast the net wide and that way you can’t be accused of being closed minded.
