Coaching Carousel 2026

I've been pretty relaxed about this whole coach hiring process because nobody knows who will make a good head coach. We wanted Garrett ahead of Harbaugh. Quite often the last guy hired, when all the first choice coaches are off the market ends up as the best one. So I didn't really have a strong opinion on who it should be.

That was until I saw that they want to keep Chris fucking Horton. Now I'm convinced they're going to fuck this right up and we'll be wishing we'd kept Harbaugh by October. I have zero faith in your judgement on coaching hires if you think Chris Horton has done a good job.

Our kickoff and field position averages were terrible both ways

100% facts. Not even joking

If we really wanted Saleh or McDaniel we would have moved for them. Their camps probably knew that we didnt think highly enough of them to forgo the second round of interviews with other candidates so they took the jobs that had been offered, fair enough to them

Really wanted McDaniel. Oh well, on to the next

I wasn't sure but the silence I had heard on McDaniel and the continued rumors of him likely being an OC felt like it was a sign that he wasn't going to be the guy here.

I think we're going to go with a dark horse candidate this time around too. Scheelhaase might be young but hes been a coach at various levels for 11 years and has been an OC in college. I think he'd work well with Lamar.

I gotta say a list of Minter, Kubiak, Webb, Brady, and Weaver is actually ass.

Only ones I even remotely believe in are the first 2. And I am way cooler on Kubiak than Minter.
I think Kubiak would bring a phenomenal staff with him though. What if Minter’s OC is Kliff?

I think as long as we are willing to be patient, it doesn't matter what happens this weekend. I'm sure the front office already knew this when they fired Harbaugh, that we may not have a coach until after the Super Bowl. I'm fine with that if Klint Kubiak is who we are targeting.

The only thing with Webb is this feels like Eric Bienemy all over again. Everyone knew Reid called the plays, and everyone knows it's Sean Payton in Denver. If we aren't patient then I can see us hiring Jesse Minter or Mike McDaniel by next week especially if one of them were the most impressive.

I was thinking that this was not something the organization was really ready for this year and that they might make a temporary decision for a stop-gap until they happened upon a McDonald kind of guy again. But I'm starting to think that they might have had a guy and that they've been slow rolling it until they get their guy. Biscuit seems to like long commitments.

I think Kubiak is their guy. I'd be really good with that.

Kliff as an OC is such an interesting concept because (a) it focuses on quick reads and quick decisions which we need at times but also (b) takes away one of Lamar's best attributes which is progressing through his reads and making plays. It's the ultimate example of pros and cons. On paper, it takes something we struggle with and makes it better, but also takes something we're great at and diminishes its value.
