Coaching Carousel 2026

Kliff as an OC is such an interesting concept because (a) it focuses on quick reads and quick decisions which we need at times but also (b) takes away one of Lamar's best attributes which is progressing through his reads and making plays. It's the ultimate example of pros and cons. On paper, it takes something we struggle with and makes it better, but also takes something we're great at and diminishes its value.
Boooooo

What is so good about Kubiak? How about Davis Webb or Mike McDaniel if offense is the way you'd like to go?
I dnt think davis webb has ever called plays and i dnt understand the hype about that so i cant get on that train..i wouldnt have minded mcdaniel as OC. Sam darnold ass so you can only do so much with him but he makes things easier on darnold! Also, the oline went from terrible to maybe a little above average since he got there. I think he is our best choice if we wanna see some offensive improvement.

To be clear, I am not a fan of it. Feels like we're either going to extremely happy or extremely pissed week to week, drive to drive, and play to play.

If it were to come to fruition, I guess the positive is that it requires an OL to win their battles so I don't see any way they can ignore that.

I know haha. What you said was like 1 million percent correct. And the concept of taking away the thing that makes Lamar, Lamar gets a big ol boooo

The only positive I can think of is that he comes from an Air Raid offensive philosophy similar to Todd Monken which is a offense that allows the quarterback to audible at will which is something I believe Lamar loves to do.

"Music to my ears!"

@UPennChem prolly

In all seriousness, I'm with @Simba in the sense that I'm more convinced now that our leading candidates is either Kubiak or Minter. Though I wonder if Nate Scheelhaase becomes more intriguing to them?

I just never thought McDaniel would be a serious HC candidate for us. I always thought he would get a HC gig as his next stop. His situation in Miami hasn’t diffused enough and he didn’t have the success to get that HC gig in a sweet spot.

I did want him here but as an OC. I always had questions at HC although if he was the pick I’d have brainwashed myself into liking it

I wonder whether McDaniel didn't want a HC job at all this time around and just took these interviews to sell himself as an OC.
I think he probably did for the right circumstance like the Ravens. I’m guessing we let him know he wasn’t in contention for the HC gig and so he took the LAC offer.

LAC is a good spot with Jim and he has Herbert where he can salvage his reputation to rebuild it for next year. He probably didn’t want to wait for us to get a HC identified either. Being OC at the Ravens isn’t a terrible bump from LAC and guy probably loved California.

Really wanted McDaniel. Oh well, on to the next
I wasn't sure but the silence I had heard on McDaniel and the continued rumors of him likely being an OC felt like it was a sign that he wasn't going to be the guy here.
I think Kubiak would bring a phenomenal staff with him though. What if Minter’s OC is Kliff?

It’s Kubiak or Bust now!

Bring him and the gang!

It has to be Kubiak or Minter

I don't get a Webb hype, I'm convinced Bronco's success is all Payton and would be really pissed off if it's him or Weaver.
I actually think the smoke with Webb is real. Let me tell you why

I don’t think Joseph or Rizzi are real interviews. I mean that in the sense that they are “real” but DeCosta said he would treat this like the Draft. If that’s true, we do interview prospects to learn about prospects we are actually interested in. I wouldn’t be surprised if we interviewed Joseph and Rizzi to hear more about Webb. Whether he comes up as their OC, consensus opinions on him, how much influence he has vs Payton, etc.

Don’t undersell or underestimate Webb.

Fuuuck. McDaniel was my guy before he even got fired. It’s Kubiak for me, I’ve been warming up to the idea anyway because I know he’s going to bring a couple guys with him to implement his system but I wonder who would be his DC?

I could talk myself in Minter and be happy with it depending on who his OC is.

I don’t want any of the young guys. This team is ready to win now, I don’t want to deal with an Orr situation where he has potential and we eventually tap into that but the season is halfway over by then.

I mean of course it’s Payton. If the success was the QB coach, that’d still be a disaster team.

I don’t think Webb’s evaluation has anything to do with team success and more so the qualities that he brings.
