I don't hate the idea of Kingsbury as OC as much as everyone else seems to. He has his flaws but he is a good designer of plays.

Every year he comes in with some new stuff that has his offenses flying for the first half of the season before the league catches up and it stagnates. (Flaws as I said.)

He designs a good run game and his teams always run the ball better than you'd expect given their O Line/ RB talent. Considering what the Ravens did with Monken, who isn't anything special with the run game, an upgrade there could make a big difference to our offense.

He's worked with mobile QBs for years. At first, he didn't use Kyler's legs nearly enough (Flaws again) but he'd improved with that by the time he got to Washington / Daniels.

If we end up with a defensive HC, I think we could do a lot worse at OC.

@Truth showed me a sample size with two running backs that played in his system and a different system the following year and in both situations they were better away from his system.

I’m a bit late to the party with this question but what’s with the hype for Minter? I’m not being facetious - I truly don’t know anything about him other than the Chargers defense playing above expectations this season.

I think the fact he comes from another Harbaugh gives me pause but what’s to be excited about if it’s him over Kubiak?

So I would say a) his defenses have been pretty good for a long time at various stops, b) he coached here for four years, so there's familiarity within the castle and c) I think he gets the max out of players. I think the Chargers D has some good players but also isn't really the most talented unit I've seen, and yet they're near the top of the league frequently. Especially in Pass D, which is where I think the emphasis should be.

You're arguing points that no one have brought up. Of course we didn't give him that platform no one is arguing his success is due to the fans. Being ungrateful to fans that supported him for 18 yrs is a jerk move. But I'll leave it at this. Agree to disagree.

Right. You're fine with acknowledging that he earned the platform, provided he uses it the way you want him to.

Morally, we definitely agree to disagree.

Its not like lamar isnt gonna be lamar! He absolutely needs to implement that style in his game. It helps with oline issues and opens up the ability to take shots down the field!

similar strengths to macdonald - and probably the only other coach in the league who's had success adapting the macdonald defence without him

good teacher, good at maximising talent

and importantly shares the macdonald modular system of play designing and playcalling (simple calls, complex looks which allows for defences to be more multiple and complicated to decipher without having long playcalls

this random blog is actually a pretty good article explaining what's so innovative about macdonald (and minter) - they're superpower is the way they teach and innovate

and as we've seen with orr (and weaver, and to an extent wilson too), it's not that easy for any coach to just take on this scheme

everything you think is exciting about macdonald, you should find exciting about minter

Which makes sense as to why Orr is still here. Orr could flourish as Minter's DC.

For the record it took less than an hour for social media to find tape of the GM in a behind the scenes celebrating the bad 40 time because it meant the Bills could get him.

It also makes me feel more confident in what I said yesterday that the Bills are a bad organization because that press conference was a disaster. Might be one of the worst I have ever seen.
