Coaching Carousel 2026

I will admit that I am very surprised that a condition of Minter's hire wasn't having an OC plan in place. I'm not nervous or worried by any means, but it feels like that pool has dwindled and they may have to go with someone that was not their top choice. Meanwhile, it's hard to say that there aren't a bevy of defensive options available. I don't think they panicked and they definitely felt good about Minter, but you have to wonder if there's a tinge of regret of not holding the line and hearing out the other options.

They f’ed up.

Count yo days EDC!

We still had to wait until this week to make sure those guys didn't get head coach gigs. Currently we are still waiting to see if we get the guy we want, which seems unlikely but still good candidates out there. In the meantime I'm very happy with the assistants we have already hired under Minter on both offense and defense.

Oh yeah I get it. The whole timing of this process is fucked to be honest, but still just feels like we were very dependent on things going a certain way for our OC hire and now may possibly have to shift to an option we had much lower on the list.

There's still backup options and 1st year Kliff.

I'd rather pull someone from college than a retread to be honest but we found someone to steady the defense and I'm okay with that.

Yeah and for what it's worth, I have zero fear of a first time play caller or going with someone unexpected. I trust they'll make a good choice. Just feels like they might miss out on a great one just because of how other teams are operating too.

There are multiple sources reporting to the athletic that back when Monken was the OC of Cleveland back in 2019, he would spend time on the field, prior to games, telling opposing coaches how bad things were with the Browns, calling things a "total mess" and saying Kitchens Sunday play calliing generally steered away from most things that had been in the game plan from Wednesday to Saturday.
