Heat pumps were invented for climates that don’t generally see temps under 40. Below that they actually use more energy than they produce.
With a heat pump if you go away in the winter and you turn your heat down so it is not running all day, it sucks when you come back if it is pretty cold outside. It takes forever to warm it back up. Any the heat never feels very warm coming out of the vent. I hate it. For some reason I feel we are sucking down the heating oil fast this year though with how cold it has been. It seems like it has been fairly colder than it it has been this winter so far.

The wife and I lucked out with the Pittsburgh weather this Christmas visiting her family. The weather was not brutal as in years past during this trip. It got real cold after we left though. They were getting more snow last night.

85 in London is horrible though because of the humidity they get they. They just aren't geared up for that weather as it only lasts 2 weeks. Half of the silly bastards get sun stroke because they can't handle the weather and sun bake in it all day.

i'm not saying it's like the worst heat in the world because that would be demonstrably false

but everyone laughing at people struggling in London during a heatwave clearly haven't experienced it

it's incredibly uncomfortable

Try riding the Underground on a 85 degree day. Its not air conditioned down there. LOL.

I feel like you HAVE to have a fireplace living in a place like that.

And idk how true it is but Midwest winters sound better than ours, dry cold and snowy, vs constantly rainy and icy with very rare snows. Winters here are downright fucking gross.
Idk man Ohio winter sucks too, after a certain point it resembles yours too with just 35 and rain all the time

doesnt really cool down in the winter either on the underground
especially the victoria line (tunnels were built too small to be able to cycle the air easily) - so it just keeps getting hotter every year

Dam really? I think our avg daily is like 90 in the summer down here. We did finally hit 100 this past summer though and it didnt even drop below 80 something over night. Shit was really weird

I’m dying to see Colorado while it’s snowing. One of these days I will… Swiss alps even more so
Same i wanna go to both places bad af! My first time seeing snow was actually like 6yrs ago. It was so cold to us that we would come out and fuck around in it for 10mins then go back inside and heat up for 10 lol. We were in the woods too so that shit looked nice af. Im for sure not built for the snow but i wanna go snowboarding just cause i think i can do it lol

25 degrees and sunny with no wind in the Rockies at 12,000 feet is so warm that you would not need a jacket . The sun is Caribbean intense with little humidity.
it feels much colder in Baltimore at 40 degrees .

It was one of the coldest Decembers on record here. Highest gas bill we've ever had. We don't have a heat pump but I know what you mean. Without the backup heat on the heat pump discharge air is only in the 90s, where regular forced air discharge is 120 to 130.

12k feet at 25 degrees sounds like the top of mount everest to me lol

I went snowboarding in Colorado probably 2 years ago… let me tell you that shit is not as easy as it looks lol I was a skateboarder for all of my youth years probably 10-12 years so I thought that shit would translate. Hell no it didn’t lol I was too cocky to take lesson so I went to the top of the mountain and just went for it lol trust me, take some lessons if you’ve never done it. You’ll thank me lol but it’s definitely a blast bro. Do it before you get too old because you’re definitely gonna wipe out and feel it the next day.

I’ve never experienced it so I can’t say too much but I feel like the lack of central AC plays a big role in the discomfort. I’ve lived in old colonial houses with only window units during heat waves here in MD and if you’re not within 10 ft of that window unit you’re immediately miserable.

I work outdoors often, and man it drains you of your whole life force in about 2 hours when you get one of those classic nasty humid summer days here

I just love the look of it, shit is so pretty to me. My neighborhoods main road used to have big trees that arched across and met in the middle and it was crazy how this typical suburban ass road turned into a fairytale scene every time it snowed, then they cut down the trees smh

The AFC Playoff picture is going to be very interesting as the games happen on Sunday heading into Sunday Night. Chargers are already resting Justin Herbert and other starts presumably. It's looking like Buffalo will rest Allen with his foot injury against the Jets on Sunday. If both the Bills & Chargers lose, the Chargers would be the 6th seed and the Bills would be the 7th seed. Guaranteeing the winner of Sunday Night's game plays either Jacksonville or Houston.

If the Chargers lose but the Bills backups still beat the Jets, Buffalo can still be the 5th seed if one of Houston or Jacksonville loses on Sunday. So realistically we are looking at facing Jacksonville, Houston or Buffalo in the Wild Card Round.

Checking in from Houston, ideally Jags do everyone a favor and lose. If not and it's 4-5 people are mixed on who to face between Pit and Bal. There is a lean towards facing Pit and knocking Arod into retirement, others straight up fear the LJ Henry combo. Regardless hoping Ravens win out and see how the playoff dust settles!

lucky for me im good with the heat
and that's extra lucky because i work outside the whole of the summer (and most of the year) - also lucky for me, i work on a lake so if it gets too hot, you just jump in the lake lol
